Private tower contact info
Posted: 02-19-2010, 06:05 PM Where could I find a list of private towers for the US and/or by state? I am looking at going to a CTO school and would like to call some of the private towers and find out what their outlook for hiring is in the next 10 months.

Posted: 02-19-2010, 06:20 PM Which CTO school? Honestly I wouldn't advise going to either one because their both very iffy about things and almost seems like a scam, but here's a list of contract towers.

re: Private tower contact info
Posted: 02-19-2010, 06:30 PM Its the new Links ATC Academy. I know that going into it there is no guarantee of a job. I know the CFR's state you must have atleast 6 months experience and the minimums for a contractor may be different and greater. The other reason I ask for the PRIVATELY controlled towers, not FAA or contract, is because it may be easier for me to gain the 6 months experience by working with the local airport manager. The other reason I ask for private towers is because its probably going to be more distant locations.
Is that list include privately owned towers and contract towers or just contract? Call it what you like but I hardly consider it a "scam", you gain a license, you have controlled aircraft supervised and have experience, its just up to you to go out there and get the 6 months experience through whichever means possible. |

Posted: 02-19-2010, 06:42 PM That's JMO. If you think it's for you then go for it. I figured you were referring to contract towers. Those are all contract towers Serco, Midwest, and a few others...If your talking about private towers that are run by local governments like municipal airports then idk where you can get their contact info.

Cool, a guinea pig. Check back after it's done and let us know how it all goes down. Honestly, I'm curious to see how it turns out, and we haven't had any takers yet.

This is your fastest way to get a CTO (control tower operator) It will take you 6 months OJT in the tower + class room time it comes out to about 15 months in all. After you get your CTO you can apply to the FAA under a CTO application it gives you a little better chance than OTS right now. I am going to tell you the truth the contract atc companys will not even look at you if you only have one CTO unless you were FAA/VRA and private towers are a thing of the past the only ones that I no of are operated by airlines and they only do ramp control also the towers that are operated by schools. I think Advancedatc will help you get into the FAA. Check it out. If I was in your place I would go take a tour of their academy talk with them and some of the students. Good luck hope this helps you. |
