Contract tower question
Posted: 03-05-2009, 12:26 PM

If I were to go to a contracted out tower do would I still have to go through the whole process with the FAA; including security clearance, medical, PEPC, ETC.? Or is it quicker where you just apply and get hired?

still go through the whole process. i'm proof of that, along with many others on here. FCT's aren't considered FAA. you may get hired quicker and your security clearance will probably go through quicker, but that's about the extent of it.

Bottomline I'm kinda worried about some mistakes I made in the past. I would like to think the FAA will hire me, but at the same time I don't know. If I failed my security clearance with the FAA can i still get hired at a contract tower?

I do not believe the contract towers will hire you if you do not have a clearence. The contract towers are facilities contracted out by the FAA, so the same rules still apply.

Ohio,
Work on getting that shit "rid of" and you will be fine. YOU have to get the same clearance for contract terminal job as if you were going to an FAA terminal billet. CONFIDENTIAL clearance it is not that big of a deal, its not secret - CHILL OUT you will be fine!

Good day!

You do not have to go through PEPC. If you were to recieve an offer from a contract tower you could be working within a week or two. That is assuming you already have a CTO and security clearence.
