I called allot of towers, and w/o a CTO I got about nowhere. When you discover this Magical way of getting into a contract tower, let me know. I think the only way this would be possible would be with a nice hookup, IE your uncle is the Tower Manager.

Later.

I've got a CTO and am getting nowhere. The problem is the experience.

The FAA sets the standard for "experience". Apparently one must have a minimum of 6 months of controlling experience before a contract outfit will pick you up. Just because FCT's are in need of controllers does not mean they can simply lower the standards set forth by the FAA. This has been a huge hurdle for me!!!!!!!!

I am quickly running out of options. Age 35, CTO, 2nd class medical, and no where to go!!!

Any suggestions??

i'm not saying ur gonna get hired with your limited experience, but you could apply for the DOD. their age limit is 36.

Out of all the FCT companies, there aren't any loopholes? I know RVA is hurting in TX. I was unaware the FAA set the 6mo minimum. That can make it tough.

I take it you got your CTO in the military? How long did you have in? Is re-enlisting an option?

My hunch is that there are loopholes somewhere, but I think my only choice is to try and get back to Beaver County and work there for 6 months to get necessary experience!!
