Job Description:

Duties and Responsibilities: Serves as air traffic controller in the control tower facility. Provides safe orderly and efficient flow of air traffic within the vicinity of the airport in accordance with local and FAA procedures and directives. Provides VFR tower control to arriving, departing, and over flight aircraft in the designated airspace. Issues ATC clearances and instructions to pilots to keep aircraft properly separated. Provides air traffic advisory services to pilots including clearances to operate aircraft, weather conditions, field conditions, and safety and traffic alerts. Advises the Air Traffic Manager on ATC procedural and safety of flight issues. Reports all accidents, incidents, and deviations as required by the Air Traffic Manager. Complies with local, state, and Federal regulations
Operates radio communication, landline, and weather equipment in the tower cab. Detects and adjusts malfunctions and interferences in the equipment.

May perform technical functions associated with training, briefings, and quality assurance.

Provides Controller-in-Charge (CIC) duties when qualified/certified.

Maintains proficiency in all operating positions of the facility.

Provides delivery of OJT to employees and students. Complies with air traffic control OJT program company policies, directives, and goals. Maintains student OJT and employee training records. Forwards required CTO training documentation to the school. Advises on scheduling of student tower training activities and OJT.

Qualifications: Must have performed ATC duties (CTO) for at least 5 years, or 3 years with an associates degree (not including instructor duty or staff duty), and have at least one year's experience in a control tower facility to supervise. Must hold or obtain a medical Class II ATC examination. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background investigation. Must become certified and maintain proficiency in all operating positions in the facility.

Wow, L3 taking on contract towers now? Ive never heard that before. They designed the new touch screen radios, landlines, recorders and ATIS equipment that we have in our tower now... they are the biggest pieces of crap Ive ever worked with. I never thought Id see the day that I missed the old OJ-314 equip from the AF haha.
