there is someone on here at RYN, that got picked up for L30. so they will need at least one body really soon (within the next 2 months). unless he decides to turn it down. we'll see if he speaks up soon, don't wanna dime him out.

The guys in Tennessee tell me they already have his replacement but they're expecting a couple of more openings shortly. Do you have guys waiting for offer letters from the FAA or something?

We have 3 at RYN with offer letters waiting for class dates, all should be coming in the next few months. As far as the openings being filled already I dont know. Usually the office will pick a few resumes that they like and send them our way. The ATM will then pick the one(s) she likes from those.

Thanks for the info. I retired out of PCT last June. My wife is still on the books. I was once in lovely Yuma and my wife was at Falcon Field back in the stone age and we both miss Aridzona. Anyway, she's going over to the dark side having been picked up as a sup at U90. I've been a WCG/Raytheon instructor since retiring. My handsome FAA retirement doesn't quite cover having two kids still at home. The site supervisor at the TRACON doesn't have any openings (it's a pretty boring job anyway) so I thought a contract tower might be just the thing. Working a VFR tower was some of the most fun I ever had in my career. We're planning a trip out when the kids get spring break. I understand the ATM's name is Gloria Babcock which sounds familiar to me somehow. I'd appreciate a phone number to let her know she'll have a face to put with the paperwork. I was at SMO and LAX if anybody there waiting for dates has any questions. I still know a bunch of people out there.

The person to talk to would be Jerry Alverado in the Tennessee office. He does the hiring for Serco now but it is always good to get in good with the ATM, she has alot of pull when it comes to hiring here. The office likes to hear about interest from retired controllers who plan to stick around the area a while instead of leaving for teh FAA a few months/years down the road so you have a shot. It sounds like the current available slot is taken now but the other 2 should be opening up in a few months if everything goes as planned. Check your PM's I sent you one with a phoner number and name. I didnt want to post it up here.

Thanks. Talked to Jerry already but it sounds like having the ATM in the loop might be a good plan. Midwest ATC pretty much tells their ATM's who's in the pipeline.

yeah, the office will send the ATM a list and the ATM will choose, but if the ATM has someone in mind that they like and the office doesnt have a problem with them then they usually hire that person based off of the recommendation of the ATM.

Only thing that would work over that is someone who is already with Serco who wants to transfer. Then I believe the company will transfer them over hiring someone new.
