I am considering enrolling at Beaver and I was wondering does it matter which one you take enroute or terminal?

Yes, if you take enroute you study enroute(centers, and radar and sutff) and if you take terminal(tower) you study terminal. To the FAA it does not matter. If you take enroute and get picked up for a terminal facility you still get to skip basics and vise-versa.

I understand the differences I was just more concerned about if one was better or if someone had been through any of the programs there?

There's a few people on here that have already been through it. Idk that one is better than the other, but I think most people go terminal. I'm starting this fall and I'll be doing terminal.

I graduated from CCBC December 15 2009. I went the terminal route. You need to ask yourself which one you are more interested in. Terminal you will be in the control tower controlling real traffic at KBVI "small airport but a decent amount of traffic because of pilot training". Enroute you will be in the sims focused on simulated center traffic. Although you will still get radar classes for terminal but it will be based on approach procedures based on Pittsburgh's airspace. If you cant figure out which one youd like better or need more information call Jim Scott at the aviation science center at CCBC.

I graduated from the enroute program in december. You won't see a radar scope until your last semester. 3rd semester is all non-radar, which teaches you the basics and fundamentals for radar( basic seperation, and phraseology). We use the same airspace that is used at the academy. If you like being shot by nerf guns, verbal abuse and don't mind chasing strip holders...go enroute! step up from "ATC Light"

Too bad you don't get a choice when it comes time to actually apply with the FAA! Whose idea was that again?

^Guy speaks the truth!!! LOL

Level 12 teminals/TRACON's can absolutly be just as hard to work at as level 12 centers, but as far as CCBC's programs go, enroute at CCBC is much MUCH MUCH harder compared to their terminal program. Terminal out there is a cake walk, it's not even funny.

Case and point...they PAUSE their problems to do a position relief briefing!!?? REALLY??? Cause in the real world you can just tell aircraft to stop in midair while you brief the next controller in......WTF!?

It just comes down to which one you'd rather work in, take the course, and hope that the FAA choses you for that position. I graduated enroute in August, but I'd take a terminal job in a heartbeat.

Do whatever is easiest. It isn't going to teach you anything regardless. Just get through it and get the job. You will learn what you need when you get to your facility.
