CTI And Scoring A Qualified On The ATSAT
Posted: 02-19-2010, 04:28 PM

Hey everyone I'm somewhat new to stuck mic so don't bash on me if there is another thread somewhere on this forum regarding this topic. First off i'm a Senior CTI student at the University of North Dakota and will be graduating in December. In November i took the ATSAT through PUBNAT8 and scored an 84.1 which is .90 short of a well qualified rating. I was wondering if I still had a chance to be picked up with that score when graduating UND or do you suggest retaking the ATSAT after the 1 year period is up. If any one has any inputs or suggestions please post them here.

Retake it if you can. It's been discussed on here before that all hiring managers see is WQ or Q. WQ would mostly make you look like a better candidate to them.

I wouldnt retake it. Being a CTI student is enough to get you a job, even with a 70% on the AT-SAT. I know plenty of people who were hired with a "Qualified" score. I was one of them. I made an 83 and I am currently waiting for a tentative offer letter for Memphis Center.

OTS people are a different story.

That's true, but that was then and this is now. Competition among CTI is more fierce, with everyone piling up thanks to the delays.

I'd retake it. I can't imagine somebody with half a brain not making it past 85% on a retake, when they know exactly what to expect. There are a ton of practice things to help, too. If somebody can't hit WQ after two shots, I question their ability to handle the real thing.

Much has changed in 4 months, much. Not even gonna go in to the details about what has changed but it is on the fourms. with that said take it if you can with this hiring freeze the amount of people who are going to be on the "cti" bid will be many and the slots will be few. The system is just way to clogged all around, you will most likely get picked up with a Q score but your chances of getting picked up and faster is with a WQ. But then again still looks like 1-2 year wait no matter what.

Well said. If someone thinks nothing's different from four months ago, they've been asleep.

Even assuming that things were the exact same (they're not), that the numbers of CTI applicants in the system wasn't any different (it is), that there isn't more competition on all levels to get into every single facility (there is), and that Qualified was still an acceptable score (it's not), there isn't any reason that someone shouldn't take advantage of retaking the AT-SAT if they failed to score Well Qualified.

If they fail, they're not cut out for the job in the first place; it's an easy test. If they go between 70-84.9%, fine, nothing's changed. And if they improve -- only 1% for the OP -- great, they're in a much, much better category that is always preferred over Qualified, regardless of the current state of affairs. Which, as summarized by rogers, is uglier than its ever been.

The only conceivable reason for not retaking it is if you're worried about failing it. If you get the chance to retest, go for it, you'll more than likely get bumped up to WQ.

Really?

So if Me and Joebob are trying to go to the same center lets say, and I get a score of 92.5 and he gets a score of 88, Joebob may get picked before me? All the guy sees is we both have a WQ score? That would suck
