CTI Thoughts
Posted: 05-30-2009, 11:39 PM So I'm a pubnat 5 guy and am set on going CTI if I am not selected. Just having some thoughts about the CTI route.
How many CTI applicants don't end up getting a position with the FAA? How long after graduation are most CTI students waiting before getting into OKC? I don't know much about the CTI stuff so the point of this thread for me is to gain any and all information that I can from fellow SM'ers. P.S. I already have a school picked out and actually attended there for a semester. Tyler |

Re: CTI Thoughts
Posted: 05-30-2009, 11:55 PM I applied both pub5 and CTI, got picked up CTI.
Pubnat 5: Waited almost 11 months with no word CTI : PEPC within 3.5 months of application. I'm hoping to see an OKC class date by Sept. |

2. The others got it right on 8-12 months depends on your state picks and how well you do on your At-Sat 3. CTI is a way for the FAA to save money by not putting the graduates thru basics at OKC, likewise it is meant to put more of a emphasis on a degree so that ATC can become more professional in the FAA eyes. it requires these courses ATC I, ATC II, and Aviation weather. Overall it is a much easier way to get in then pubnat, only negative is that you have to pay and if you fail you atsat then you just wasted alot of money for nothing. My .02 |

Good choice going for the B.S. degree. If you go through college, that's really the only degree that is worth that much outside of a specific career field.

On the up side... if you decide to do some more flight training up there... they've got brand new 172's with G-1000's. Sexy. |
