New here, questions about some things...
Posted: 06-15-2009, 07:55 PM I took the ATSAT back in November, and I graduated from Purdue in may. I still have to take the online CTI course (the last one, which I am starting this week). I never received an email about the geo-preference is that because I still have to complete this online course (once I finsih this course I will receive the recommendation from the university).
And after I receive this recommendation what are the then steps that occur afterwards? thanks! |

Re: New here, questions about some things...
Posted: 06-15-2009, 08:56 PM Once you completed all your courses for CTI your information has to be submitted to the FAA for the recommendation. Once you get recommended and all you information is correct you should get a code to apply CTI via ASAP. From there you will have to wait once you fill out the application. I believe the next selection panels are in Aug. i may be wrong. During those steps you will fill out location pref. etc your still about 8-12 months away from the academy.(Once the panels meet)

Re: New here, questions about some things...
Posted: 06-16-2009, 03:08 AM From what I've heard, the AT-SAT Score is what the FAA looks for first, then they'll look at your CTI Grades if they need further information. I'm not positive if that's how it works, but that's what I've been told. 85 and above is usually considered "well qualified" so if you got above that you should be in pretty good shape for hire, depending on the need for controllers in the state you've picked.
But Rogers is correct... Once you have completed all your classes and your college has varified you've graduated... then they should send your information to the FAA and the FAA will email you a code to apply and on the application you get to pick two states you want to apply for. From there you really need to hurry up and wait! I've already applied, picked my two states, and am anxiously waiting for the next selection panel to meet, I hear in August but who really knows? But Hope your AT-SAT went well and good luck with finishing up your online course, i would get that finished as soon as possible. Good luck getting hired! |

Re: New here, questions about some things...
Posted: 06-16-2009, 01:52 PM It might take at least another 2 months at least before you get any email asking for you to select your two duty locations. In my case, I applied to two separate public applications through ASAP (one in August 2008 and one in November 2008 I believe). I took the AT-SAT in January. During this time, I wasn't attending the CTI school and still needed to take one more class before graduating.
Anyway, I finally received the email in reply to the August application, so I selected 2 locations. It look 8 months to get that email. I'm not sure if the FAA only needed me to select the locations once and that is all, because to this day I still have not received a reply to the November application. So that's the range of time it took for me to get a reply. I've been out of the loop for awhile, but to my understanding, once you get the code, apply for the CTI application, then it's time for the waiting game for about 6 months to 1 year at least. Other graduates have said they got their PEPC during that time. I'm not sure if you still need to fill out the SF-86 Form for background check, but the sooner you get all that paperwork in order the better. If I've been wrong on anything, someone please correct me! |

Re: New here, questions about some things...
Posted: 06-16-2009, 09:40 PM I recently received my grades for the at-sat and now I am trying to fill out the application on asap website. There is a question on the application asking me if I am applying under the selection priority program. Does anyone know what the selection priority program is or how to find out if you are applying under it?
Also to the person who originally posted this thread. You have to finish you class first and then pass a small test to get the recommendation from your school. Once your school sends your recommendation to the faa the faa should send an e-mail to you with your job code so that you can apply under asap. The faa took two months to send me my e-mail with my job code. It is supposed to come a lot faster than that and if I wasn't calling my school all the time asking them to call the faa and tell them to send me the e-mail already I would have never gotten it. So make sure you stay on top of that. |
