Where to stay in NY
Posted: 06-27-2009, 06:03 PM

I thought I'd throw this out there but if anyone is looking for a place to stay near Vaughn I found a Homestead extended stay hotel in Norwalk, CT for $1200 a month and it has a kitchen. I'm only going for a semester so it seemed like a great alternative to trying to find a place that would write a 4 month lease, finding furniture, setting up utilities, etc... You need to call them if you want to set it up as the monthly $1200 rate isn't available online. Wireless is available for $5 / month. Since it is a hotel it is subject to tax but they only tax you during your first 30 days - after that there is no tax. Norwalk is a 1 hour Metro North ride to Grand Central.

They do and they aren't expensive ($3800 semester) BUT it's for a double and you do have to buy a meal plan. I don't mind sharing a bathroom with someone but I'm not sharing a small room with bunk beds in it.

I currently go to Vaughn what time are your classes next semester, because that hotel is not close and depending on traffic and rush hour that could be up to a two hour commute FYI. especially if the whitestone is a mess there is no other way around except taking the brukner pass yankees stadium. there is an extended stay right in flushing by the school.

The other hotels were double the price. It is supposed to take 1 hour 45 minutes to get to school from Norwalk via Metro-North & MTA.

I don't think so. I remember my wife's housing at Georgia Tech was $5000 a semester. I went to Georgia State and it was $5000 as well but I didn't stay on campus. Both schools are downtown Atlanta.
