I heard CTI grads might have to attend basics. This true? Source was an unsure career's rep.

ooh geez. as if the CTI vs OTS debate wasn't already a dead horse. i can just imagine what the basics course would turn out to be if they were filled with CTI and OTS people.

The only thing I know is that CTI students take basics if they were selected through a Pubnat announcement.

so do VRA. if a VRA somehow found themselves hired by a pubnat then they take the basics course and can kiss the $20,000 bonus good bye. which makes me wonder why CTI or VRA would apply Pubnat.

I will be applying pubnat as a CTI student. I will graduate before I would get hired anyway so it won't hurt. I do not really care if I have to go through basics. If anything it will be a refresher and give me a chance to get in the right mindset before the course gets challenging. The pay is the same for a CTI grad and OTS from my understanding. Applying both will give me an opportunity to put down more choices on location preferences.

You should know better than to listen to ACD people by now.

Only if they are hired via the PUBNAT route.

We had a lunch at school with a whole bunch of people from the FAA, the director of training was there and this was one topic brought up about basics and how CTI are scoring compared to OTS. In the long run there are no plans to make CTI go to basics but however there is talk about creating a refresher course for the CTI students.

My opinion i dont see any of it happing due to the fact the reason CTI was implemented was to cut down costs of training for the FAA. If they all had to go to basics it would negate the whole reason for CTI.

I believe VRA get a bonus, there is no bonus for CTI grads. It does not make since for the FAA to give extra money to someone that went to school specificly to get the job in the first place. Wait a minute, if it doesn't make since maybe the government would do it...
