Taking the AT-SAT?
Posted: 07-09-2009, 05:39 PM

Hello,
Just had a quick question.
I just applied to PUBNAT 8 and I will be attending CCBC in the fall. If I take the AT-SAT for the OTS announcement will I have to wait a year to take it again if I want to get a higher score, even if I apply for the CTI announcement?

Thanks,
Ken

Normally CTI students are scheduled to take the AT-SAT during their FINAL year in school. That is not always the case, but that is what the FAA wants.

Other than that I believe that you must wait one year to retake the AT-SAT.

Hello,
I will be at CCBC for only a year though. I don't want to shoot myself in the foot by taking the test too early and if I want to take it again, I won't be able to. Unless I can take it again in less than year since I will be applying under CTI.

It was a little under a year and a half between my 2 AT-SAT tests, so I'm not sure, and neither was anyone at CCBC.

I've been trying to contact someone at OKC about PUBNAT7 though, cause I was selected to take the AT-SAT for that, but haven't gotten an e-mail about it yet, and I've seen that alot of people already have their scores?

I'm wondering if they saw that I just took the AT-SAT back in May for my CTI degree, saw my score, and already ruled me out! haha

Yeah, I'm not sure either.
I just don't know if I should take it if I get an invite for OTS or just forget about OTS and stick with CTI.

Well, what makes you think that you'd get a bad score and would want a 2nd chance! lol

I'd say if you get picked to take the test....take the test. Otherwise, how would you get in OTS? You need to take it for that, so might as well take it now, and see what happens.

Chances are, if you pass, it will be good enough for the CTI degree and you won't NEED to retake it. Whether or not you retake it (if allowed) is up to you. I wanted to retake mine to get a better score, and I went from a 76 to an 84.

Yeah, you have a good point.
I guess my concern is how well I will be prepared for it.
Did you do any prep in class for the At-Sat or is it all on your own anyway?

I think you should take it as soon as you can.

if you get selected for the atsat under the OTS announcement you will not be selected to take it for the CTI...unless it has been a year and you elect to take it again, otherwise it will be good for three years

PUBNAT 7ers have already taken the AT-SAT. I believe there is one more location taking it and their last day is today or tomorrow. Most of us have gotten our scores...
