Any Fast Track Programs?
Posted: 08-10-2009, 03:30 PM

Are there any CTI schools out there that have a fast track option?

I guess I'll throw this question out there too, I haven't looked into the CTI thing too much, but I'm 28, birthday is in May, so I have about 2 years and 9 months until 31. Did I miss the boat or is there still a chance of getting in?

Have you applied to any of the recent Pubnats? I'm turning 28 next week and will be taking two semesters at Vaughn College this fall to complete the CTI program. They offer a definite fast-track program for anyone holding an associates or enough related college credits. I know there is at least one other CTI school that offers the fast-track program, just not sure which one. I don't think it's too late, though, wait much longer, and I think you and I would be pushing it too close. I did apply to Pub7 and 8 as well though.

One of the CCBC's does a year program as well, but they also require you to pick up a private pilot license as part of it (not a bad idea, just might take some extra time). I agree with aprolla, be sure to get in on any PUBNATs that come up, since you're getting close to the age cutoff.

The short answer is yes like aprolla said, however with that being said there is some criteria for getting into a fast track program, using Vaughn as an example due to the fact i am currently in it. The first one being you must hold a degree (Bachelor or Associates), depending on what type of degree you hold depends on what classes you have to take. Any classes taken at your prior school with a grade of C or better, you could get credit for them. Vaughn offers almost all of there courses on-line (however i do not recommend taking the CTI courses online, the professors who work at regional airports (jfk,lga,n90,zny etc) all provide invaluable knowledge and experience.

So to get back to your question it is not to late but you are getting close, I entered vaughn this past Jan (09) and will Finish Dec(09). If you get in to any program that is a year this fall or winter you should be good roughly you would have 1yr 9 months from grad in Spring(10) you will most likely get a FOL in a panel during that time. It is not guaranteed but if you do well on your AtSat (+85) you should not have a problem. Once you get selected your age will freeze and you will be under 31 even if you wait 2 years for OKC and go in over 31.

Well vaughn college in new york has a fast track program..if you already have bachelors degree, you only need to take 10 courses...i did that and was done in a year with summer classes too...and the great part of it is most of the classes can be done online.

BCC and Vaughn both sound good. I decided to go with Green Community College up near Seattle. I have a B.S. and spoke with a teacher up there, and he thinks I can be done by next summer if I start in Sept. So that's the route I decided to take as the cost of going there is pretty nice for an out of state-er. There are some other colleges that do a fast track (pretty much everyone will waive the generals), but not all of them offer classes all the time so you have to time them just right to get through the quickest.

Anyways, thanks for the feedback everyone!
