CTI Announcement, AAC-AMH-09-CTI-12655, extended until 16Oct09

What are everyone's thoughts on the current CTI announcement being extended from 30Sept09 to 16Oct09? Does anyone know what the reason(s) behind this could be? Will they generate a referral list before or after this date? When will they hold the selection panel?

According to ASAP: The referral list will be generated after this date.

It was extended due to the fact sept. panels were postponed (till Oct) I really do not see it affecting anything due to the fact not many CTI schools grad. CTI people during the summer sessions of class. I think the real question will be if the new CTI announcement will come out right after that date and when will it close.

Hope this has not been noted already, but anyone see that the CTI/CTO/REINST/RMC/VRA close dates have changed from 9/30 to 10/14 and 10/16.......

Anyone know why the change?

Well according to Amy (of whom I spoke to today) at the academy the selection panel has been rescheduled and is set to take place October 27-28th. Why those dates? Who knows...but she did say that if you applied on the '12655' announcement that you should definately be on the referral list (status on your asap) which should come out between Oct. 16 and the panel date...hopefully sooner.

I mirror your thoughts though...

I have gotten alternative reasons from the faculty at Embry Riddle for the delays. This may be CTI fluff but it is food for thought. They feel that the delays are a combination of two things. One, many of the controllers who were on the fence about retirement have re-singed contracts with the pay raises provided by the new pay scales and the promises of increases of 9 percent total over the next 3 years. The number of controllers retiring has been substantially less than what was projected. The second is the fact that the schedule that the selections panels were meeting on was occurring right after the schools graduated and there was no time to process the graduated students to make these selections panels. They ensured me that they had complained about this several times and have been pushing for it to be delayed at least a month so that graduating students did not need to wait 4-5 months to be able to apply for selections. Take this with a grain of salt though because I have found through my years at the school that the staff has little knowledge of what happens from the time their students graduate until they start at the academy.

I spoke to Amy a while back and she told me the CTI committee was supposed to meet the week of Sept. 21. Now with this whole date change and whatnot I don't know what's supposed to happen. If TFlanery is right about it being postponed for the 27-28, then I guess its just some more waiting for us. I was also told that the period from the moment the referral was made, to the moment you were actually called for an job offer/interview was 2-4 weeks. Which means, if the committee was postponed for the last week of October, I could be eating Thanksgiving at my parents and still have no idea whats going on.

Yeah I Graduated CTI in May, Applied soon after that. I was bummed when the close date was extended, I wouldn't be suprised if it pushed back again. I'm really looking forward to the 16th to see what the status ends up being.

Dasipe, I hate to harbor bad news for you but you should get used to the idea of having no idea what is going on. Last selections they took about 2 months after the referrals were generated to contact people for interviews. The process is nothing but painful. It is now the 14th and I know that a friend of mine from school and myself have yet to see referral generation. I hope they get something going soon.
