When will October 2009 Hires Go to OKC?

So, I know I am going to Memphis Center and my wife needs to get back in school. Plus on top of that, our landlord says we must be out of their house by May 2010.

So, based on that we have unofficially planned to move to the Memphis area in May, and we are probably going to rent a house because we have 2 dogs that need to run.

I know its premature since none of is have even been contacted about an interview, so this is out of fun. When do you guys think we will see the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center?

I am realistically thinking by next July I will be at the Academy.

July 11? Ehhh.... maybe at the very earliest. There are still people from PUBNAT3/4 (and some stragglers from even earlier than that) waiting, so it may be several months further. Not to mention that if you hit any bumps in the road at all, it's just gonna delay things even more. 2011 is a very real possibility.

Sucks, eh. I've been extending my lease on a month to month basis, paying well over what I would if I could sign an extension, because the FAA isn't telling me anything about when my Academy date is. Been through two jobs while waiting already, about to look for a third... if any of you StuckMicers ever make your ways into the higher levels of administration in the FAA someday, see about doing something about this ridiculous hiring process, eh?

I realize some people on here have been waiting awhile.

I base my prediction off of two things: a friend of mine who is at the Academy now waited 1 year (Oct. 2008 - Oct. 2009) after he was offered ZME. Second, there is a thread in PUBNAT 5 - 6 forums with people who are going to ZME, and they claim to be going to the Academy this January, so they will have waited about 6 months from the time they were offered to the time they get to the Academy.

Therefore, Im hoping my wait is about those times... About 10 months from now is what I expect, but I do realize the wait could be much longer.

As with the current trends, I wouldn't be surprised if enroute hires from Pub7 make it to OKC several months before terminal hires. There are a lot of Pub5/6 enroute hires that have either started at OKC in the last month, or will by January. Significantly fewer terminal hires, though, and there were roughly 150 at the two PEPCs, which means HR needs to come up with classes (not to mention facilities with hiring slots) for that group before they start tackling Pub7.

For your own sanity, I'd expect late 2010 (November-ish) or later. If you get a class date sooner, it will be that much more exciting.

Hang in there dolly ... I work for a sewer company.. I have a degree and went from being a mgr to a field crew guy after they received my background form and realized im leaving .. Now I sleep in a hotel 4 nights a week and only home sat & sun .. And did I mention I work in the sewer .. I consider it a good day if I make it to the hotel without killing myself ... ( not literally ) But it is awful and I can't afford to quit.. I'm at the faa's mercy .... I don't know how much longer I can take it.. Did I mention I work in poo poo. . Can only get better from here.. ATC better be worth everything I've gone through... I believe it will be. Hang in there. Were gonna get there soon

Yeah... but lots of us have been told to wait longer than that. Specifically ZSE and ZDV. The former, my group, was told 2011 is realistic... ugh

150? If you were talking about Pubs5/6 panels, try 500 people. 50 per day for 5 days (2 PEPCs). Out of those 250 a week, terminal had the last 2 days, which means 300 for centers and 200 for terminals. There will always be a lot more hires for centers than terminals.

There are a couple guys in my class from Pubnat 2. You could still be in for a very long wait depending on where you are going.
