I am a CTI student at the University of North Dakota.

When I toured the school, I loved the campus especially the aviation department buildings. I was given the opportunity to try out the ATC simulators on my tour, which is why I ultimately decided to attend UND. Another benefit to attending UND is the lower tuition fees than schools like Embry Riddle. UND is the #1 ranked CTI school with the best faculty I could have ever hoped to learn from.

There isn't a large selection of activities/ev... [Read More]

great school! the reviews say it al...but there is really nothing much to do here. If you are seriouse about aviation, this is the place for you. Just be prepared for serious cold, and times of mind numbing boredum.

Overall UND was a great school and prepared me for an ATC job very well.

Curriculum: Difficult but you learn a ton. Tower and Radar classes help a lot. Some schools only need like 2 extra classes for the CTI certification but UND takes like 6-8 classes and the simulator fees run like 1000 per class. However you will learn most every basic thing there and will actually have some experience looking at a radar and trying to manage airspace in radar classes or trying to move traffic... [Read More]

    Great CTI school!!!

Couldn't ask for more dedicated and knowledgeable instructors and staff.

Simulators are very realistic and constantly being updated to provide more challenging situations to test your knowledge and skills.

I would not recommend any other CTI than UND!

    The University of North Dakota...

At first I was skeptical about going to UND just due to the fact that it is in ND. However, any negatives that I thought about were wrong. Grand Forks is a smaller community depending on what you are used to. Everyone is the city is friendly and if you look hard enough, you will not have a problem occupying your time. The only negative part that I have is the winter, be ready for wind chills near -45! Well that is enough for the city.... [Read More]

University of North Dakota's ATC program isn't the best in the world for no reason. Even though we have all the fancy gee whizzy equipment, it still doesn't make up for the great instructing we have here at UND.
The faculty at UND takes the time to teach based off of experience and procedures, not some dumb powerpoint. While they use the powerpoints, they use them as an aid not a crutch.

With hard work and determination a person can get through the course relati... [Read More]

UND is the top choice school for getting a realistic ATC experience. The sims are very true to life and state of the art. The teachers introduce you, slowly, to the world of ATC and push you to the limit in the higher level ATC classes. You can even get a pilot's license and IFR. Or you don't have to if you don't want to. If you don't take the class where you get your private pilot license you do still have to fly but you don't have to go through the check rides with the FAA. So basically, acade... [Read More]

Let me just start off by saying how great of an experience I have had at the University of North Dakota in the three years that I have been here so far. Ever since I was a little kid i always dreamed about doing something in aviation and UND has fortified my notion of what I want to do when graduating college. The radar simulators which is a recent addition to the facilities at the school, to the tower 360 degree simulator of Academy, to the 225 degree lab are unparalleled to what any other scho... Becoming an undergraduate student at the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences at the University of North Dakota is a dream come true, a privilege, and a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will never forget. After researching the University for many years in middle school and high school, I knew that it was my best option for giving myself the chance to succeed in the difficult industry of air traffic control. Just finishing up my third semester here at UND, I could not be more pleased ... [Read More]

UND is a great university. The aviation department is outstanding. You will get a good feel for what every aspect of ATC is like, which helps you in choosing a facility to go to once you get out. The simulators are incredible and unmatched by any other university.

I decided to go to UND the minute I toured the campus. I wanted to go to a real college not a trade school. The University of North Dakota has it all. They have an outstanding business school, a med school, and a law ... [Read More]
