I finally decided to bite the bullet and apply for college. I'm a PUBNAT7 applicant but I figured I might as well take classes, and then I'll have a better shot at the ATC job. Anyone been to Green River Community College, and can they share with me some tips as I've never been in at the campus, let alone the state! I decided to take the CTI program here, as Hawaii doesn't offer CTI programs at their colleges. Thanks.

How its going?

I dont know much about that school. Although, Ive heard good things about it. Just make sure their sims are up to par. My main thing would be to make sure the school im attending would have excellant sims. After all, sims are where most of your learning, that is important to ATC, takes place.

Good luck with your choice!

Not true. You can attend a CTI school without using the expensive sims. The FAA wants you to know the basics about ATC before you attend the Academy, not whether you know how to program commands into a sim.

My school didnt have sims, and we have a very good success rate at the Academy as well as in the ATC career. One example would be one of the first CTI students to check out at A80 (ATL TRACON) came from our school, and he didnt use sims while in school.

If I were you look for a school who will teach you the basics, not teach you how to be a CPC. Sims are great and all, but not a necessity.

lol,

Well of course you can attend CTI school with no sims. Hell, you can get hired without even going through a CTI program, OTS. And congrats on your schools high success rate.

What im trying to say is that being able to practice on sims gives you that extra push for when you get to the academy. I strongly believe that any student who went through CTI school with sim training well be more prepared before OKC then a CTI student who didnt have any sim training.

You gotta remember a CTI school with out sims is only help you with the Basic course that OKC teaches you. Youll learn the same as an OTS going through basics and thats it, if you dont have a sims. Now, if you have sims youll be that much more prepared for the following part of OKC or your actual facility.

But, im not saying it cant be done without sims. After all, several OTS are making it just fine. Im just saying that if you have the option between something good and something better for the same price its kinda obvious which to choose.

Good Luck!!!

Are you an idiot? Its obvious you are. Over and over you compare a top 3 CTI school to OTS. Shows how much intelligence you have.

What you strongly believe is completely wrong. Facts are facts. Our graduates have been just as prepared as anyone else, and have done very well at the Academy. You dont need the sims to get through the Academy. Im not going to argue with some jackass with the intelligence of a park bench.

My point was to the original poster. Find a CTI school that fits your needs best. Make sure the school you go to has a good educational background first. Sims should be secondary to what you learn in the classroom.

My 3.9 GPA should suffice this. But Thank You, for your concern.

What you strongly believe is completely wrong. Heres my quote about this: "I strongly believe that any student who went through CTI school with sim training well be more prepared before OKC then a CTI student who didnt have any sim training."Facts are facts. Um, yes they are. Very profound statement. Our graduates have been just as prepared as anyone else, and have done very well at the Academy. No one, is debating with you about how qualified your graduates are. You dont need the sims to get through the Academy. Um, correction you do need the sims to get through the academy. Although, you dont need the sims to make it to the academy. Which brings my statements about OTS. Meaning that OTS doesnt need Sims to get to the academy either. Im not going to argue with some jackass with the intelligence of a park bench. lol, this statement speaks enough about your personality and maturity that i dont need to say anything else

My point was to the original poster. Find a CTI school that fits your needs best. Make sure the school you go to has a good educational background first. I agree, 100%Sims should be secondary to what you learn in the classroom.I disagree. Sims will further prepare you for your career and the academy. Not to mentions the academy is mostly sim training. Also, dont forget that learning and knowing procedures and regulations are also important. But, being able to apply these procedures are far more important.(which is where the sim comes in to play)

Any Questions?

Green River is a great school. I finished there last winter. the sims are newer and get the job done. More important than the sims, the staff and instructors are top notch. All instructors are highly rated, on a student's best friend, ratemyprofessor.com, and they really do want to see you succeed. Go Gator's! but to say you need to apply is false it is a CC.

Lets drop the arguments on the sims please. The only real thing that matters is that CTI students who go through the academy from schools with or without sims usually do just fine and do well at their facility. Sims aren't exactly a neccesity while in college, and although they may help a little bit when you get to OKC, after a certain point in your training it won't matter whether you had sims or not.
