maybe it is nice.... but... i dunno. i dont want to tell you the place sucks.. maybe its nice... i used to go to this bar on pearl and i think church. it was pretty shady. the greyhound bus station is right in that area... soo.....

and the city kicked a bunch of black people out of the area directly west of there (aboud 2 blocks away to 5 blocks away... its all flattened.)... tore down some buildings. called it imminent domain and they have never built... 10 years ago? sad... i PERSONALLY would not stay in downtown. especially when you are going to school on the westside.

here do this... that map that is under "location" on the website... click satellite and look a few blocks west... it is ragged, and rundown.

I was planning on attending FCCJ, but not until the Spring '10 (depending if I get picked up PUB NAT 7 & 8)... perhaps interested in getting a room mate. I will only be there until the end of summer ( I already have a bachelors so I would be on accelerated program)

surfdonkey, when are u trying to move? I am willing to split nice apartment rent.

I also saw FCCJ's RADAr and non-RADAR training rooms and man, I'm so excited to be going there now. Truly impressive. Maybe its the norm at most schools and I'm just really excited to be trying to get into this profession, and the intructors there couldn't have made me any happier. I have all the crap classes knocked out, hopefully I will be selected for radar training class next semester. I also think Cecil field is really awesome, nothing like going to school at an airport that have some decent sized airplanes.

I've got one class to take at FCCJ downtown for physics, lets just say I wish I had taken physics long ago somewhere else.

if you have a bachelors in something with the aviation classes that are required to get the ATC degree, then sure your bachelors could* make it that shorter... If you have a bachelors in business or some other very general whats-the-point bachelors, then you'll need more than 2 semesters, and have to hope they didn't already decide on the students they want in the ATC classes. The info on most of the cti school sites is misleading. They won't give you the recomendation certification without obtaining their CTI Associates degree. I have a ton of credits as well, and unless you come from another school with aviation type classes, such as federal regulations, or aviation weather (you can scrub those off if your a pilot, I was able to scrub off pilot ground school), etc other classes you gotta take 30- 50 credits.

I thought the same thing cuz I have a lot of credits, but nothing in any sort of aviation degree. So I need about 36 credits. The only gen ed that I didn't have was physics. I'm trying to do it as quick as possible myself, but it will probably take 3 semesters If I'm lucky.

I would be receiving their associates, I am already approved, with all my transcripts in, medical, signed up to start, and have the list of classes i need to take, and when they are offered, and my planned schedule, getting me out in two semesters with an associates

in 2006 jacksonville had a much higher than average nation average for crime. That location isn't anywhere near cecil. Now, I'm lookin for a roommate, and I'm not trying to discourage a prospective roomate, but lets have a loot at the west and south jacksonville. Orage park area is also alright in most places. I was there, at FCCJ DOWNTOWN (put it this way, its next to the city bus terminal) seeing where i'll have to go for my physics class. That area blows, I'm not feeling good about that SINGLE class of my 4 I need to take, just because of the location. Cecil, South, and Kent campuses seems a lot nicer. In fact Cecil seems so cool, it used to be a full time Navy or some other branch military base, one of the biggest. Lots of neat history all over the field. If you like aviation and lookin at 727s, well they land there because theres an air cargo aircraft development facility. ANG, and 4 massive runways. I'm gonna be all over that place with my Canon DSLR. I saw a lot of these flyin over:

Maybe I'm blowin downtown out of proporation. Its probably fine, but you need to go see for youself. These apartment places can take a total and utter shizit hole, and make it seem like its a very nice place with photoshop. North, northwest jacksonville aren't jax's best areas at all. I saw a lot of places to live on Tuesday that I drove up to and didn't even get out because of how scammed I was to even looking.
