I also saw FCCJ's RADAr and non-RADAR training rooms and man, I'm so excited to be going there now. Truly impressive. Maybe its the norm at most schools and I'm just really excited to be trying to get into this profession, and the intructors there couldn't have made me any happier. I have all the crap classes knocked out, hopefully I will be selected for radar training class next semester. I also think Cecil field is really awesome, nothing like going to school at an airport that have some decent sized airplanes.

I've got one class to take at FCCJ downtown for physics, lets just say I wish I had taken physics long ago somewhere else.
I think im planning on moving down there in Dec. I'm still waiting on my transcripts to be eval'd, so i can see how long this program is going to take me to finish. i really need to finish in a year......

yea...im pretty excited about it too....im pretty much droppin everything and changing my career......kinda scary but exciting.

I might be willing to share a nice apt.......i was just checking this area "San Marco"....is seems like a nice, clean area........with some cool bars and restaurants......

yeah tbh I didn't think it was going to be as hard to find an area that is simlar to the one I live in, in Tampa. Guess I'm spoiled. I need a place like next week or the week after actually. That or the honda is going to be racking up 420 miles a day, LOL. Pretty nuts, and not happening. I did know a guy that drove 150 miles each way to work once though. And in NJ my dad used to drive 70 each way to Kearny. But thats how Jersey is. So if you buy a high mileage car from somewhere in the middle of jersey... its probably ok.

Hi everyone..I just applied to FCCJ and should start in the Spring. I, too am looking for a place to live. Anyone have any suggestions? I don't love having a roommate, but if it can get me into a nicer place for less money..I'm game.

I'm 26 with a bachelors...so this isn't my first time around.

What neighborhoods close to campus are great to live in?

Thanks!

wow..u must have a magic wand or something...Because I have my bachelors..121 credits and I would still be on a track of a little under 2 years...and thats for an associates. Don't think it's possible..I would double check whomever made that 'planned schedule' for you.

I will also be coming down to Jax in January to start with the CTI program.
I already have my bachelor's and I took astronomy instead of physics for my science req the first time around, so FCCJ is making me take physics there which seriously blows.
How are some of you going to finish in a year?? From everyone I've talked to there it seems like it will take 16 months because of the way their class sequences are setup. I would love to finish in a year, but they made it seem like it was not a possibility.

I will also be needing to find a place to live, but prob will commute from GA for January and try to find a place in February. So, if anyone else knows anyone that needs a roommate or has an open room please give me a shout.

Lookin forward to start rollin with this career track.

i have a room for rent. i own a house in jacksonville, i got out of the navy as a controller in august.. i left in november (wokring at a contract tower) and have one of my ex-coworkers (navy air traffic controller) living there now. it is a 2 bedroom house in mandarin. it would be 400 a month and split utilities. the house is completely furnished. i have a brand new bedroom set in the extra bedroom.

Brob......

I'm going to be in the program for 5 semesters...16 months as well. I honestly don't think its possible to get through faster unless you take 18 credits a semester...with 9 in the summer. And anyone who does that is crazy. All of us fccj jax kids should plan on meeting up.....maybe u'll end up in our physics class. Let us know what ur schedule is....most of the aviation classes are just one time/day.
