Posted: 11-20-2009, 05:28 PM Just because the school is approved to offer the CTI program doesnn't mean that it does yet. If you look at the catalog for 2009-2010, there is no mention of a CTI program. Programs (Scroll to Bottom) My guess is that they will be starting the program in Fall 2010 at the earliest.

That looks like substantial evidence to me. I'm waiting to hear back from Admissions on Monday. As soon as I hear some more reputable information I'll post it here. |

Re: Tulsa Community College
Posted: 11-21-2009, 01:07 AM I've talked to Ben Bancroft (head of the CTI program at TCC) and they already have students in the program as we speak. I have seen pictures of their simulators up and running and training students. I have already had my transcript sent to them and a copy of my drivers license, pilot certificate, and medical. The entire school is super busy right now as this is when they start putting things together for the spring semester. They are dealing with a lot of things such as new students, class registration, and so on.
MTCTIGUY-you have to really look into the catalog to find the CTI program. They do not even have it listed on the school website. There aren't any headings that will point the way. The class schedules can also be found inside the school website that show the exact time that certain courses will be available. Those schedules include the CTI courses for next semester. |

Since nearly all students want to know how much to expect to spend learning to fly the college puts that number out there based on national averages. The national average to get a private pilot certificate is well above the minimums to get that certificate. I think the average now is something like 60-80 hours. You have to remember if you are proficient and learn things like flying an airplane well, you can do it in much less than the average. I got my private with right at 40 hours and only had the minimum required dual instruction time.. If you are considering going to a school that requires a private pilot certificate go to a part 61 school/instructor and train often. This way you can have your certificate before you attend that particular school. If you go this way and you are an average student and fly often (2-3+ times/week) you can get that same certificate for $5,000 or less. I don't see flying as a requirement of me, but something I enjoy doing and it makes up for the cost of learning to do so.

Re: Tulsa Community College
Posted: 12-15-2009, 05:54 PM For anyone interested in TCC, I registered/enrolled in classes for Spring 2010. Also went and took a tour of the facility, I only snapped two pictures and their quality isn't that great but you get the idea. Below, is the tower cab simulator and the radar/en route simulators. The facility in which the ATC-CTI program is held, is extremely nice and modern it was really neat. I'm excited about getting on the right path this Spring.

Re: Tulsa Community College
Posted: 01-22-2010, 10:00 PM Hey guys,
I am currently in the leading class in this program at TCC. Any questions you have I can probably answer or find the answer pretty quick.. These photos are ok but I have some others of it in action I could throw up if you guys like. We are on our third semester looking to graduate August 2010. We are going over more en route as well as APP/DEP procedures currently and expect to be running the radar side soon. We run the tower side all day on Tuesdays 9a - 6:30p. This multi-million video game is very nice and addictive, ha. We have the best instructors money can't buy so we are very fortunate. The flight program was written in before the ATC instructors arrived and is kind of a hassle if you're trying to finish your gen eds but gives you a great idea from the pilot end of things. Another thing, automated pilots are great and the different accents are a nice touch but currently we're using remote pilot positions more so that people on position can handle things more efficiently and develope their own methods instead of worrying about what the computer may come back with. Comms with a real person tends to go over better, ha.. Blue skies, Corey Fuel Your Edge - Extreme Classifieds! |

Re: Tulsa Community College
Posted: 01-25-2010, 04:16 PM Hey guys everything is so true cbkyro said above. It looks like everyone on this post has atleast there Private, that will transfer in to credit, and depending on if you have any gen ed's done all you really have to take is ATC classes. Check with the Counselor here and they might put thogether an ATC intro class if enough people apply.
Best of luck and happy landings. Colby |
