Broward College - Ratings - Reviews Summary
The Aviation Institute links Broward College's (BC) South Campus with North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines. It's the only public facility in South Florida with direct access to an airport dedicated to the training of aviation professionals and technicians. Since 1966 our aviation school has been preparing students for careers in: Professional Pilot Technology, Aviation

All ATC training is done in our state-of- the-art facility in Miramar Town Center where the college has a $1 million laboratory that includes radar, enroute and tower simulators to provide students with the technical and academic skills necessary to succeed.

The Aviation Institute also provides hands-on training to prepare students in the competitive field of aviation maintenance. It provides FAA approved certificate programs in Airframe and Powerplant, and FCC approved certificate in Avionics.

Professional Pilots are trained in partnership with Delta Connection Academy (DCA) using airline standards in technologically advanced aircraft, the Cirrus SR-20. Our school prepares students for private pilot/ instrument rating, commercial pilot/multi-engine rating, and flight instructor (CFI) and flight instrument instructor (CFII) FAA certifications.

Broward College is an excellent CTI school. I am currently in my 3rd semester of the program. The professors all work or have just recently retired from the FAA, most from Miami International Airport, so all of the information you are receiving is very current. They are extremely helpful with any questions that you have and break down the information for you so that you can actually learn and understand all of the rules and procedures. In the Radar class, we work one of the actual sectors from Miami Tracon. We run the arrivals and departures into two airports, as well as handling over flights and VFR popups in the area. We have to learn to use the correct procedures, phraseology, and LOAs for the airspace while maintaining proper separation. The simulator lab is BRAND new and runs the STARS system. We are currently getting a brand new Tower simulator for the next semester which will be up this June. I am very happy to be one of the first to attend this program and will graduate with a large amount of knowledge and confidence going into my ATC career. If you would like some more information, please feel free to PM me..

I completed the CTI program in December with Matt... BCC was a great experience with lots of hands on teaching. I enjoyed using the new equipment and the tower simulator kicked ass with its voice recognition and almost 320 degree view. Most of the professors are well educated in the subject at hand and the BCC staff are all very helpful and supportive. There were a few professors who in my opinion could work on their teaching skills but overall the BCC CTI program offers a great hands-on and knowledgeable professor base and brand new equipment.
