I am attending ENMUR right now and it's great. A student with previous college credit (transfer student) can receive their Associates Degree in Air Traffic Control in just 3 semesters.

Curriculum: Pretty run-of-the-mill aviation stuff here. There are ground school classes for private and instrument ratings as well as a few more specialized subjects such as aviation security, human factors, aviation weather and aerodynamics and a few others.

Price: Simply put, you cannot beat the price of ENMU-R. The program will cost you around $6,000 a semester with everything included. Food, housing, books, meal plan, etc. Federal Aid is available for students with limited college credits.

Teaching staff: All of the ATC classes other than the seminar course which employs the simulator is taught by one instructor. She is a commercial-rated pilot without an ATC background. That being said, she can cover the basics adequately. The Roswell control tower is located adjacent to the campus and they are developing a close relationship with our program. One of the controllers will begin teaching the aforementioned seminar class this Spring. There is a one week "internship" where each student spends time in the tower cab and TRACON. I was told by a classmate that this entails simply spending time in the facility and hanging out with the controllers. It's a good opportunity to see what a controller's job entails on a day-to-day basis. During a class tour, I was told by a controller to come by whenever we might get bored. Me and a few classmates have taken them up on this and they were very welcoming. This is a great aspect of this program.

Nearby activities: I wish there was an option to rate this a zero. The town of Roswell is universally hated by pretty much everyone in the area. If you want to do anything, you will need a car. There are plenty of activities within a few hours of driving: skiing, Albuquerque, etc.

While my review of this school may appear mediocre or worse, do not be dissuaded. Simply put, this is most likely the fastest and cheapest route to getting your CTI recommendation in the country. It is a two-year program but for most it is only three semesters. The FAA doesn't consider which school you attend, so it only makes sense to go somewhere fast and cheap. There may be other schools significantly more expensive and longer in duration that could perhaps better prepare you for the FAA Academy, but the jury is still out in this regard. Can a school really prepare you for the Academy?

I could have gone to a school that was a 30 minute drive from home that cost roughly 5 times as much and would have taken 3 times as long to finish. Instead, I took a risk and drove across the country to come to this school. There are some things about the school that I don't like. However, I do not regret enrolling here.

Please do not hesitate to PM me with any questions you have about this school. I would be happy to help out.

I attended Eastern New Mexico University Roswell and it is the best bang for your buck! The curriculum is heavily regulated by the FAA and is up to par, the University has great resources available to them including top of the line simulator equipment and an Air Traffic Control Tower and TRACON with then walking distance from the dorm rooms for an internship. The only down fall is the small New Mexico town atmosphere of Roswell, but it is what you make of it; there is big mountains and skiing one hour away, boating lakes about 2 and a half hours away and decent size towns just 3 hours away in all directions. I believe over all a great school for anyone willing to take a shot at ATC.

This is a great school to attend to get hands on experience and skills on the simulator. The instructor is awesome as well as the head of the department. They will try their best to get you to the FAA. You will love the quality education that you receive here. I was blessed to go here as I met some awesome friends in ATC and some of them in which we will hang out for a lifetime...Only thing though is that when you are out and about in town, be careful who you associate with and you will have to be a really sociable person in order to have fun, because it is a small town. Overall, I am so grateful for my experience there.

I attended ENMU-R from August 2009 - Fall 2010. I graduated with an associates of applied science in Air Traffic Control and am currently waiting to be hired.

I really enjoyed the entire program. I was trained on the basics of ATC and had an internship at both the Tower and TRACON facility.

This program is very inexpensive and affordable. The staff is very helpful and understanding!

The only complaint is the town...it's very small and there is little to do, but it's only for a short while and is tolerable.

I would recommend this school, staff, curiculum to anyone who ask!!!

My pops is a retired controller, lived and worked in what used to be the Southwest region. He was at Roswell before the radar, and a couple of other places. We went to visit ENMU, LaTourneau and TSTC.

Pops has helped with my research because he is taking up the slack on my expenses. He looked over the program at Roswell with me. He said it was a knock off from a larger school and said I could learn more off the simulator than doing an internship at a slow tower. Good manners don't permit me to share my views about what he said about pilots training controllers to separate airplanes.
