Has anyone heard of going to CTI school to get your CTO? Supposedly there are 2 in the nation you can do this at. I am going to start working on my BS is Air Traffic Management to get my CTO. What are the requirements to apply to the CTO openings?

You can no longer get a CTO from a CTI program. However, there is the much debated Advanced ATC and Link that offer a CTO-only program.

when did this happen? I went down to Middle Ga College about 6 months ago and you could get a CTO from them then...

I'm going down to see them in the next few days to see what classes they will accept from my local college so I might not have to transfer down immediately.

From the Middle Ga College ATC FAQs:
Q: Do two-year students have the opportunity to work in the MGC air traffic control tower?
A: Eastman Tower is one of two collegiate ATC facilities in the country; two-year students typically will not work in the tower. Two-year MGC air traffic student will have access to the facility; however, four-year students will have two semesters in tower while working toward the opportunity to earn a control tower operator’s certificate.

This could be old, but why wouldn't they just take it down if you can't do this any longer? I know they updated the website because the guy in charge of the ATC program is different now.

Their website and FAQ are old. Beaver has already stated that they are no longer able to offer CTO's either. I do not know if it has already been implemented or if there is a cut-off date. Tried calling, but only talked to office admin, and they did not know the answer and the ATM was not available. Here is a post about Beaver stating they could no longer do it, and I would think that they would still be doing it if they could. That is what made Beaver so special, one of two that offered a CTO.

did Beaver have a tower for students to work in? The post says tower but I was under the impression that most CTI schools only worked with Simulators...

Yes, they have a control tower. You can only get a CTO by working live traffic. With that said, you will still get very good experience by talking to actual airplanes. You just won't walk away with a CTO.
