    Retired FAA to DOD???

Does anyone know a retired FAA ATC later being hired as a DOD controller without a loss of any FAA retirement pay?

Generally there are laws to prevent "double dipping". But according to DODI 1400.25-V300 (Dec 10,2008) the DOD has a waiver. This allows retired federal employees to receive full retirement pay plus their DOD pay.

If you know anyone that has done this I would appreciate contact information.

I'd be interested in hearing if this was possible too, retired military can double Dip so why shouldn't we be allowed. The hard part is getting hired at a DOD facility.

Assuming that you're still young enough to get hired by DoD and can find someone willing to hire you, you'd probably have to suspend your FAA retirement while you worked for DoD. DoD has the same FERS retirement system as the FAA, so it wouldn't be "double-dipping". You'd just be adding to your years of service under FERS. Double-dipping refers to collecting a MILITARY retirement plus a civil service retirement.

Actually, under DOD rules you can receive your full fed retirement pay and be paid your new salary at at a non-reduced rate as a rehire. I do know retired DOD controllers who were rehired with the waiver but I have not heard of any retired FAA guys being picked up. The DOD people were rehired because they had outstanding reputations in the facility before they retired. I would say it would be extremely difficult for an outsider to get rehired in DOD. Never say never though. Good luck.
