I was chatting with a friend who received the opposite response just yesterday. With such a quick determinations, I would bet a dollar this job was filled before the announcement even was published by a friend of someone.

I found out this morning my application status for the Savannah/Hunter AAF announcement was updated to "Eligible – Application Referred to Selecting Official." |

Re: 2 new vacancies...Georgia
Posted: 07-19-2010, 08:31 PM I'm sorry to hear that Radar...
It makes me wonder what it takes to be in the "group of best qualified candidates?" Did the Army super computer scan our Resumes to determine who was best qualified? I really doubt human eyes screened the initial group of resumes. X64Driver...do you have any insight to the initial screening phase? |

Posted: 07-19-2010, 10:48 PM Yeah I'd like to see what X64 has to say, seems like the other jobs I got referred to passed the computer screener, and they are the same type jobs... so maybe each job poster gets to customize the key words or something?

Re: 2 new vacancies...Georgia
Posted: 07-20-2010, 10:06 AM Fellas,
The initial screening is automated and key word/phrases are crucial. Once that initial screening takes place, it is sent to CPAC personnel who screen for "best qualified." With that info, they build and forward the referral list - that list could have anywhere from 5-25 names on it (the last one sent to me had 15 for a single position). Most of your resumes are making it past the "automated scan"...unfortunately, you have someone who knows NOTHING of ATC determining "best qualified." Don't give up just yet...the hiring official has given them a detailed vacancy requirement which is their guidance for picking who makes the list. Some offices are more generous than others when refering and I think the general rule is "when in doubt, refer" as several of those 15 names I recieved last time should NOT have been on the list. So, check the vacancy announcement for "buzz words and phrases", make sure they are in the body of your resume and keep trying. It's a government system, it's not meant to be fair. As for me, I didn't apply for these positions so I can't comment on my resume this time. But as a former CTO/GCA with watch supervisor experience and TERPS duties, I always get referred (6 of 7 tries anyway) but still no phone call - 8 months to retirement isn't helping as no one wants to hold down a pos that long. So I am OK with Huachuca waiting for funding as I need to be under 6 months should the phone call come. Hope this helps...keep tweeking the resumes and applying! Dave |
