guarunteed they already have these 2 slots filled by two retiring or separating airman who worked there active duty. thats how these DOD jobs work dont kid yourself. Ive seen it over and over and over again. unless theres like 4-5+ openings somewhere its a waste of time to even apply. Often the job announcement will even be tailored to better fit the guy they already have in mind for the job. u can call me a hater but its just the cold hard realistic factz

Im currently a rapcon controller at Mcguire (still int he AF) and the place isnt that bad for the radar controllers. The traffic is decent and while we are the red headed stepchild of NY/PHL its nice to have compitent controllers working on your borders as apposed to the other faciliites ive worked across.

I dont know of any slots available for the RAPCON so they have to be with the tower. This tower is SLOW....its slower than that even...i cant even begin to describe how slow the tower is here. 90% of our traffic is overflights or arrivals to the sat airports.

As for the area i dont think its that bad, but im a homer. Im not one that has to go out every night and what not. Schools are good and crime is low in this specific area. Plus its a quick drive to PHL NY and ACY for that matter, so if you need a weekend getaway its possible.

Anyways hope this helped.

just wanted to add that while i havent really heard of these openings i also havent heard of any prospects that are in the tower to take them right away (military wise) so if you want this job it might be worth a look.
