Why is it so hard to get a DOD position?
Posted: 11-10-2009, 04:47 PM I have applied changed my resume, tweaked it and still nothing. Air Force, Army same thing. Is it that they always know who they want and so your wasting your time to even apply?

Posted: 11-20-2009, 08:09 PM While they sometimes still fill the slot before it's posted, they do still hire legitimately. One thing to consider is when they use any type of electronic submission of a resume (USA Jobs, etc), it's based on keywords. You pretty much have to write a resume that almost looks exactly like the job posting to score high enough for your resume to make it to Personnel to even stand a chance.

Re: Why is it so hard to get a DOD position.
Posted: 11-20-2009, 08:37 PM I will have to look at that again. I have made so many changes to my resume trying to put some key words and phrases but not overload it to where it looks exact and i dont want to fabricate any experience.

Re: Why is it so hard to get a DOD position.
Posted: 12-14-2009, 12:29 PM I finally got referred to a position in NC. Its range control but its a ATC position. Even if I don't get it.. It feels good to get referred finally. Weird I know. I did get the old you were not in the group of best qualified letter today for an ATC job I applied for with the AF at Wright AFB in Ohio
