Thinking about last minute changes to ASAP Geographic Preferences before tomorrow night...

I know this was discussed back in 2009, but I was looking for newer information.

What's the general consensus of selecting the District of Columbia as a geographic preference? What sort of facilities would you be eligible or ineligible for? PCT, DCA, IAD, ADW, BWI, ZDC?

Hello everybody! This is my first post, so please forgive me if this is in the wrong place or has already been asked. I've been searching for hours trying to get some answers...with no luck!
Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me!

I'm confused as to all the tests potential ATCs have to take during training. We are assuming the CTI path for a job, as opposed to off the street or military...

1. The AT-SAT (pre-employment aptitude test? right?) I thought you took this after you CTI was over, but on UND's website, they say you will probably take the test during your first year. wth?

2. The CTO test...? Is this something you take during school...or...after you get hired??

I took a tour of MSP tower today and loved it. Affirmed my choice that I want to pursue this is a career, but now I'm confused as heck with all theses test...and the whole CTO thing license vs. the written test...test not giving you the license...

I'm LOST!

Thanks,

William

I'm not sure about this information, but thought of something interesting. When an OTS hire goes to the academy for basics he/she starts a couple of weeks earlier then a CTI would start. So does this mean the OTS will actually have more seniority then the CTI graduate for bidding purposes if going to the same facility? I currently work in a job that is based on seniority and it irritates me that people in my same training class five years ago are still working with me and have more seniority then me only because they are older. I can imagine that an OTS might be irritated by this if it is true. I'm not 100% sure that is how it works out, that is just how I understand it. Anyone know any facts?

Anyway I love the Americans of all kinds, colours and flavours:jester:
But I would need advise from the west side of the atlantic mostly because the law ruling us is so much different...
Anyway, if I have put the foot in it, please forgive me and do not worry, When you come to Spain you know you are invited to a little tapa and cervecita!!:drinks:

So we all did our GeoPrefs. People are saying that PEPC is a thing of the past. Does anyone know how the interview/MMPI/physical will get done?

Also, I really hate my job, but they promote me like mad, thus showing "progressive responsiblity" as the FAA might see it. At what point can I get a new job and not have a job change affect my app?

Hello to everybody:hithere:
I am new in the forum and I feel deeply low as I have failed de feast 2 of Eurocontrol in my country, to become an air traffic controller, and to help it, we all see that there is so much rif-raf going on:anger: in our government...

I am really disappointed with my own country and so I would like to try to become an ATC somewhere else in Europe and as I am not American I cannot apply to the FAA :(
I have being wanting to be an ATC for many years because I really like the job, I think it is amazing, I love everything related to the aeronautics and radars but I am getting a bit frustrated as I am already 27 years old...

Anyway, I would appreciate if somebody could help me out of this black cloud I am in and give me some hints of what to do...

I know is not a very nice start in a forum but I feel so lost and disappointedby now...

Thank you everyone in advance and nice to be between you:drinks:

MG's August Update

The purpose of the updates are to keep you informed and to let you know that we are aware of your status and as soon as we have an Academy class...

The purpose of the updates are to keep you informed and to let you know that we are aware of your status and as soon as we have an Academy class date, or an update to your hiring status, we will contact you via e-mail/phone.

The following are HR Specialist's contacts and the regions they service. If you have questions, please direct them to your HR representative.

blah blah blah

If you have any questions or concerns you would like addressed on the updates, please send them to me and I will see what I can do.

1. Effective Monday, August 30, there are some personnel changes in our office. EM will be moving to a different position, which is the reason for the changes. LH will now provide assistance to applicant in the Western Service Area, while continuing to provide assistance with the Central Service Area (Great Lakes Region). MG will now provide assistance to the Central Service Area (Southwest and Central Regions), while continuing to provide assistance with the Eastern Service Area.

2. Recently, the FAA changed the medical policy that extends medical clearance from one to two years. If a medical clearance expired prior to our receiving the new policy (July 22, 2010), a medical refresh will need to be completed prior to receiving an Academy class date. If a medical clearance expired after the receipt of the new policy, than a medical refresh is not required.

3. The monthly update will be changing to a quarterly update. My next update will be in October.

Thank you,

MG
EnRoute, Eastern Service Area
