I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, but I have a question regarding my PUBNAT 8 application. I had almost forgotten about it, since it was submitted almost a year ago, and when I received the email for the GEO Pref, I logged into the site to update some of my personal information. The application tab says that it is closed, and any information that I update on the work history and personal information tabs is not reflecting a change on the application itself. When the panels meet, do they pull your most current information off the site, or do they just pull the application that was submitted from a while back. Sorry if this is confusing, but hopefully somebody on here understands what I'm trying to ask. Basically, I changed my address, and added a couple of references to the work history, but I'm not sure if it will show up on the application or not. Thanks.

Geo prefs were due by September 2nd and they can no longer be updated (just confirmed). That being said, I'd love to hear everyone's "secret" information they heard from the brother of a nephew's dog who is buddies with the janitor's wife at ZWTF Center. Obviously, I know some of you have much better contacts than that.:p If you HAD good info, but were holding it back, please share it here. The poker game is over, so show your cards and let's speculate together.

I'm new to the site and wanted to give my background and ask for your advise about seeking a job as an ATC.

I'm hearing alot about PUBNAT 8 or 9 from a friend of mine who got accepted through PUBNAT 4 or 5. He's now working here in Hampton, GA.

I was enrolled w/ Silver State Helicopters and the school went bankrupt on us about 8 months after starting the school.

I have always thought about ATC, but never really acted on it until now.

I hear about the CTI schools, but also hear they are running over 100k for two years and that you can get an application in for OTS applicants. I was browsing the FAA.gov website for jobs and only seen a place for CTI applicants to fill out an application. Is there a section for OTS applicants to fill out an application?

I'm just looking for a little advise and guidence from some of the members on here.

I would like to call a few of the facilities I am very interested in. But even though I'm not normally tongue tied, I can't figure out how to start off the conversation or even who to ask for? Any suggestions? Thanks!

The reason I ask this is that I'm up against an age deadline. I know it's a longshot getting selected, and an even longer shot at getting a TOL before my 31st birthday in the middle of January, but I am wondering what in the process actually happens between someone getting selected, and getting their TOL?

Is there any interviewing, checking with previous employers, or anything else that goes on between Selection Panels (on Oct 18th apparently) and getting a TOL? Or once you get selected at the Panel, does that mean you are going to get a TOL (which in my case, would mean that I just have to hope and pray that the TOL gets sent out prior to my 31st birthday in mid-January).

Sorry if this has been covered before, I couldn't find any specifics on what goes on in the process immediately after Selection Panels and before TOLs.

Does anyone have any rumors of if/when the FAA may put out another PUBNAT announcement? I'm trying to find some info for some friends.

For Pubnat8 how many of you all have an Associate's, Bachelor's, etc?

Where does everyone work while waiting on the FAA? I need some ideas my job is gone with the summer. Im a landscaper and need to start looking for another job while im waiting on the FAA.

So I'm a PUBNAT8 and got my geoprefs. I'm interested in Enroute and TRACON but not so much tower. Where does TRACON fall under? or should I stop being so picky and just accept everything? My concern is that my second choice state has a lot of towers I have no interest in . . .

Also does anyone know when this will/won't pan out to a job? I have another potential job I am eyeing.

Alright so we're doing the geo prefs now. Who looks over this and gives the yes or no on each applicant? Should I be talking to the facilities I want to work at now so they can put in a word or will their input not happen til later on?

Thank you for your interest in our Air Traffic Controller Specialist (ATCS) positions. Since you applied to our national ATCS announcement AAC-AMH-09-PUBNAT8-12162 we are requesting additional information to determine the various geographic preferences where you desire to work.

Please use the link provided below to submit answers in the following 2 areas:

You will see a list of states in the attached website, you must choose at least one (1) but no more than two (2) states where you desire to work.
There are two facility options available through the ATCS positions. We need your decision on whether you prefer to work:
the Terminal option,
the En route option or
Both, if you will accept either of these options.
Comments are to be used to give any additional information regarding your geographic preferences.
The Terminal option controls air traffic at airports and give pilots taxiing and takeoff instructions, air traffic clearances, and advice based on their own observations, information from the National Weather Service, Air Route Traffic Control Centers (ARTCCs), flight service stations, pilots, & other sources. Terminal Air Traffic Controllers transfer control of aircraft to the En Route Center controller when the aircraft leaves their airspace, and they receive control of aircraft coming into their airspace.

Air Traffic Controllers in the En Route (Center) option give aircraft instructions, air traffic clearances and advice regarding flight conditions while en route between airports. They provide separation between aircraft flying along the Federal airways or operating into or out of airports.

To be considered for this position, you must submit your information no later than Thursday, September 2, 2010.

When the elusive geo pref email comes your way, what are you thinking of putting down?

For me: I am going to CA for sure, maybe UT, AZ, or VA (I would like to work near DC)...if I was a little more adventerous, maybe I'd put down HI.

This information is according to OK city, don't hold your breath but we should have them in a week.
