No... I have to disagree. If you were awesome at the sim, you should go to your fac spouting that. I'm sure everyone would love that.

Why? If you're on the D-side it can be a great tool to assist the R-side in updating a route for weather, traffic, etc. No, it doesn't get used all the time, but it is a useful tool.

There will be many techniques you'll pick up from others aside from your trainers that they may not use themselves. If it works for you there's no reason not to use the tools available to you.

Highlight the call sign, click "graphic", define the new route with left clicks in the GPD, then click on the fix you want to tie back into on the drop down that appears alongside. I had to remind myself how to do it after sitting on the A side for 7 months.

Their bass-ackwards way of non-radar. What you do in the labs at your facility, and most importantly on the floor is drastically different. Honestly, even what you learn in the lab only vaguely resembles the way non-radar is actually handled on the floor when there radar is down due to maintenance or failures.

I learned this one recently...

Any of the following phrases:
"In Oklahoma, we did it..."

"At the academy, they taught us..."

or ANY combination thereof!!

Kindaradley, you nailed that one, I spend more time telling students, "we don't do it that way, no matter what they told you at the academy"

I like to use this to spell out a message or a picture, then round the route out on the scope, always a good laugh... then do previous route (if you can't you're screwed, hope you can type).
