Call the training manager and ask for the leave, it should be admin leave. If the training manager won't approve it, you can always contact the NATCA president at the facility and get him involved. If there is a group of you, just make sure you are all on the same page about how many days you want to take, so you all show up at the same time on the first day. Makes it easier for the training department to do the first day intro's and so forth if you all show up at once.

Typically, if you are reasonable about it, and ask for maybe 1 day so you have the Friday off and then the weekend to move, they will approve it. Don't call and say give me 64 hours, unless you have some good reasons. 8 days would give you 12 days off including weekends, which is a little too much time to ask for in one pop. Ask for 2-3 days, and say once you are down there you may need to take another day or two to setup some other things (bank accounts, meeting the cable guy, etc).
