I read somewhere, but I don't remember where I read it, that students were able to get 8 days of leave after graduation. Anyone know of this to be true? Or do we earn leave at the normal rate?

You have to ask for it and it has to be approved by your facility. You can get up to 64 hrs, but don't count on it. The FAA suggests that they should give you at least 2 days, but it's all at the discretion of your ATM.

I was able to get 8 days, but only because I had to move my family from Wichita to Indy. We had guys going to Anchorage and Oakland that got no time off. They had to use their annual leave to take time off

I got 5 days, and they told me I have 2 years to take the other 3 days. It definitely depends on your facility. Luckily mine was really cool. It's a total of 64 hours to be used within 2 years.

One of the articles they just agreed to, to be included in the coming contract, indicated 64 hours to be used within X time frame for moves, including Academy graduates reporting to their facility. HOWEVER, it did not indicate specifics or wording like "up to" so we'll have to wait to see the actual full text of the article.

Currently, there was a memo (attached below) sent out to all facilities encouraging the ATMs to work with Academy Graduates should they require more than a day to report and allow them to approve up to 64 hours excused time which will come out of your leave time.

Just saw the second part of your question. You begin earning annual leave when you start Academy.

They got to be realistic here. I have to drive 2000 miles from okc. There is no way i can do it in one day hopefully the graduation is on friday.

But they pay the least expensive option between driving and flying for your travel reimbursement... Have you seen how much airfare is out of OKC? Ouch!

just to clarify, this 64 hours does NOT come out of your annual leave balance. it's a separate 64 hours of travel leave allotted.

then you don't have your car. One way or another you have to drive to your facility either from okc or you home before okc. One day is no where near enough to report to your facility. How are you supposed to move all of your housing goods in one day. It is toatally rediculous to require you to be there in one day.
