Re: Looking for reasonably priced housing
Posted: 09-03-2009, 07:18 PM have a look around in here...should find what you're looking for
ATC - FAA Academy Housing - Air Traffic Control - ATC - Aviation and you dont have to pay for housing out of pocket in okc, you get a per diem that covers it |

Re: Looking for reasonably priced housing
Posted: 09-04-2009, 08:52 AM Thanks. But I want to put more priority on price and Isola Bella is over that limit. Also I would prefer not to have a roommate. I have looked at the list of approved academy housing and for the most part they are all over-priced as well. I think I would have better luck with something that wasn't approved by the FAA. I'm sure they up their rates just because of that.

I ended up at Mansions South, with my own 1 bedroom apartment, fully furnished and only 15 minutes away from the Academy. I'm paying about $870 a month, but given that all my utilities are included, and I only need about $30 a week for food, I'm actually pocketing about $1500 of per diem a month. Not too shabby, I think. The facilities are a bit dated, but I'm only here for 10 weeks, and the money I'm making is worth it, IMO. |

Re: Looking for reasonably priced housing
Posted: 09-11-2009, 06:09 PM I think thats two words. Heck, I think craigs list would be two words if it wasnt a website... making that 3 words.
tho: in a place where people are sent to stay and have the govt pay for it... the rates are always going to be high. I mean 900/mnth sounds wtf retarded when you have to have a roomate... but thats just supply and demand at its finest. Tho... if isolabella did matching of the opposite gender then it might be worth the price! Do a lil combo of rent.com and match.com. IsolaMatch.com? |

Re: Looking for reasonably priced housing
Posted: 09-11-2009, 10:47 PM I have no problem paying a deposit and 1st months rent up front if its going to get reimbursed somewhere down the road. My main concern is having a very affordable place to live while i'm down there. Its only 3 months so I know I'll be fine if I don't have all the extras. I just need a close, safe place to sleep, study and surf the web. My main priority is saving the extra money. I think its a waste to just hand that money over to those FAA approved housing options.
