Do we get the cash back we don't spend on FAA Housing?
Posted: 09-11-2009, 09:45 PM From word of mouth...I heard that if you spend less money then allowed for lodging you get to pocket the leftovers?
Also: How many have chose to use the government card vs. applying for the travel voucher? Thanks! |

Re: Do we get the cash back we don't spend on FAA Housing?
Posted: 09-11-2009, 11:59 PM There are two parts to the per diem, housing and meals/incidentals. Now matter which option you choose you get your full meals/incidentals per diem.
If you use the gov card YOU get $0 housing per diem. They pay your landlord directly. If your housings is $5/day or $50/day (this is what most charge) it does not matter, you will receive $0 in "left overs". Again you will stil get the full meals/incidentals per diem, but that's it. If you choose to pay out of your pocket up front and submit you submit the travel voucher YOU get the FULL housing per diem (~$50/day). Again if you pay $5/day or $50/day you will still get the full amount. This will be in addition to the meals/incidentals per diem. If you are going to stay at one of the "all inclusive" housing providers at $50/day or can't afford to pay the housing cost up front, government card is your best option. If you are going to pay less than $50/day for housing and can afford the up front cost of housing, than travel voucher is probably your best option. |

Posted: 09-15-2009, 08:23 PM Hello All...I agree that paying out of pocket is the best scenerio for most. We only require that you pay for the 1st 14 days up front and every 14 days thereafter. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me at MichelleFalls@Isolabellaapartments.com.
Have a great Tuesday evening.. |

Yea but your apartment complex is one of the ones that eats up the full 50 dollars a day, unless you go for a 2 bedroom with a roommate and then its still overpriced at 900 a month. If you're someone interested in keeping some of that per diem money, then find a NON-FAA housing option for a reasonable price (under 700/month) and just get reimbursed. |
