AT-SAT score
I scored 87.9 in the middle of September '08. Is this score high enough for consideration and if so when should I expect to hear anything if I do at all.

Yes, anything over 85 is "Well-qualified".
The announcement before you is not having their selection panels until January, and have already waited three months without any word, so on a minimum, you probably won't hear anything until early 2009.

Re: AT-SAT score
I took my test in March and by mid April they said I was being considered for a position and sent me some paperwork. I'm not sure how typical that is.

It's typical if you're CTI (possibly VRA too... not sure), but not at all for an OTS applicant.

Re: AT-SAT score
Welcome to the world of FAA acronyms!
CTI = Collegiate Training Initative. A program at some colleges that helps fast track people through the application process. "Fast" is a relative term here; it still takes months.
VRA = Veteran's somethingoranother. Can't think of it right now, someone else will in a later post I'm sure. The application route for vets, which is faster than CTI but still not too speedy.
OTS = Off the street. What everyone applying to a PUBNAT is, somebody who doesn't have any sort of background in air traffic control. Pilots even have to do this one.
...ask if you hear more. There's plenty of things to confuse newcomers, believe me.

Re: AT-SAT score
CTI isn't fast... it takes 2 years at some schools ad 4 years at others!

Re: AT-SAT score
I was CTI and my application process took 7 months. From what I've heard from OTS hires, they can wait over a year sometimes. The schooling was 4 years (for a B.S.) like most colleges, but you come out with a degree in aviation and less of a wait to the Academy.

Note that I said that it was a faster way through the application process. Obviously the college degree time wasn't included... although at the rate that the FAA has been moving, who knows, maybe it'll take us OTS people that long to get in.
*cough*
