Length of Tracon classes

I am going to the Chicago Tracon and on my fol, I am starting dec. 18th for basics. after that, it says that I will take intro to radar which will be 9 classroom days, but no mention of other classes after that. That is not the only class that you have to take for tracon, is it? I am guessing that there are more classes, and I am curious to see how everyone else knows when they are done at the academy. I don't have an academy packet yet, so if that is where they tell you, then that would be why I don't know yet. thanks for the help.

From what we have heard that is all...the individual facilities will teach you their policies and such....you just get the basic radar familiarization and such from what we have been hearing in the intro to radar...

you take 'intro to radar control training' 55001
then you take 'radar control training' 50034
turns out to be about 6 weeks in all, which is still the shortest of the 3

im currently here for trac training right now here is how it breaks down
10/30 to 11/12 is intro
11/13 to 12/9 rct

let me know if i can help in anyway, im only in day 2 but as time goes on ill ave more and more info..

being ots youll also have 5? weeks of basics

My FOL said 25 days basic and 9 intro to radar too. Evidently we'll have to go back for more training at a later date.

As I understand it, you do Basics, ITR, then RTF in a row. Couldn't tell you for sure I only had to go to RTF though that's what people in the class said they went through...

Illogical is correct- after you complete Basics you will go 'upstairs' and begin intro to Radar. Its 9 days in the class room then 9 days 'downstairs' on the scopes. Once complete with that you will start the second class Radar Control Training... I am here now, same dates as illogical so we got to sit that long ass first day listening to boring speeches and videos...remember to turn your phone off and no texting...lol

figure out your living arrangements before you get here - try to find a roommate as it will be cheaper. you will have to pay out of pocket for at least 2 weeks and don't be late to class!
