Center - EnRoute Training
I had a buddy who was recently hired at KIND (up/down) facility and we began chatting about the differences between Center and Tower training. He originally wanted ZID but took the first offer given to him.
I want a center as well but he made me extremely nervous talking about how hard the training is in OKC for center and half of the class washing out etc.
Is there anyone who actually is going through that training or already received that training that can be insightful to this? If you study hard and bust your balls down there is still that hard for you to get through?
Any info would be appreciated...thanks!

Read the blogs, it will give you some idea of training and there are a couple of people in Oak City right now going to ZID that finish their training around December 8. ColtsATC is one of them. Ask him what he thinks of the training and of ZID.

Re: Center Training
My wife is in training at ZID right now. She said the training at OKC is nothing compared to your facility. OKC just prepares you for the training process.

Re: Center Training
Yea my friends are there at ZID right now and they say the same thing as your wife about the training....It was the same in the military. The school basically helps determine if the candidate for the position is capable of learning basic concepts and procedures of atc.

Re: Center Training
Pants, are you the one in the class starting on the 20th? Was your original date the 6th or do they have one starting every week? They pushed mine back a week and I'm wondering if they did it again. I still haven't called to find out. I'm just ready to start and quit this contract BS.

I think that kycontroller was referring to working at a contract tower, not the green book vs. white book issue.
