Re: GovCentral article on Security Clearances

We all have skeletons in our closet but if I'm not mistaken they only go back 10 years. This of course is another nugget of info that I may be wrong about. If however it goes back further dont hesitate to document it when you get your clearance forms. It will catch up with you and you will be shit canned. You can explain whatever it is that is in your past. You won't be given an opportunity to explain it when you lied about it on a government document. That is a no bullshitter. Also, you must report any criminal activity (dui's etc), report it. The FAA does more than one background check during your career. Again, it will catch up with you undoubtedly. Good luck.

There's an appeal process if you're denied, but if that doesn't turn out for you, that's pretty much it. Back to robbing liquor stores.

I doubt it. As long as your clearance is active, it should be a rubber stamp.

A good number of terminal positions do require a secret clearance.

The need for a clearance is based on what traffic you work, not the type of facility. Most of the larger TRACONs require secret clearances, due to the large volume of military traffic that they typically work. The size of the airspace is irrelevant.

    I stand corrected, thanks.
