    AT-SAT Test date in Socal?

I just checked in with the ASAP page and got this message:
    AT-SAT test list generated:

    * 11/03/2008 03:42:50 PM (Central Time): You have been authorized to take the AT-SAT test for announcement AAC-AMH-08-PUBNAT6-10764. You will be contacted within a few weeks to schedule the test. If you have questions about the process, please call Aviation Careers Division at 405-954-4657
I called them a couple of times yesterday, but could not get through. Anyone know when and where the Socal test is going to be? How long us "a few weeks"?

You'll receive an email... eventually. The Socal test is in Covina, but I don't know more than that. When you receive that email, they'll give you a window of usually 3-5 days and you call the number they give you and schedule it for one of those days.

Well, I'm sort of glad a few weeks is more than a few weeks....I need more practice at the sims. I haven't yet found any practice sim for letter factory. If for whatever reason I can't make this test, would I be able to make the next test? Or should I just take it even if I'm not 100% prepared?

Don't let yourself get too worried about preparation. I was the same way -- I wanted to have the Princeton Review AT-SAT Prep Guide, the accompanying $1000 course, etc. etc.... I mean, this is our future career we're talking about, right????? AAAHHHHH!!!

When it's all said and done, you'll find that the test, while demanding, isn't terribly difficult. Keep in mind that most people don't do any preparation whatsoever (and many do well regardless), so just having an idea of what you're getting into will give you an edge. Take advantage of the resources available here on Stuck Mic -- the AT-SAT Info link on the left sidebar has more than enough information. Get the Green Book if you'd like to supplement it a bit more. Go with that, and you'll be fine. Trust me.

And no, there's no good Letter Factory practice, so you'll just have to learn when you're there. DO NOT use the one in the Green Book; it'll just screw you up, believe me. But do practice some on the things available at jeremyjustice.com // games . While not precise, they're good to get an idea of two parts of it.

Good stuff. I've checked out jeremy's sims and found the ATC sim a little tougher than expected. This is the area I want to build practice in. Any advice, other than practice, practice, practice?

If they're doing the test at the Radisson again, grab a room there if you can afford it. I stayed the night before my test in the hotel and just relaxed and unwound. Plus you don't have to worry about taking a chance with traffic. The breakfast was pretty good downstairs and the proctors from Robinson Aviation are really nice.

I think jeremyjustice's sims helped me out quite a bit. Like already stated, dont even bother practicing the letter factory, as it will screw you up, if you want to play with it a tad for general familiarity, thats ok, but nothing more. If youre going to prepare, I would recommend brushing up on your dials, math, and angles. I am fairly confident I did not miss any of these, had the letter factory yell at me twice, crashed two planes into the walls in the ATCS, and guessed on quite a few analogies, and ended up with a 98.9 It really is not too hard. I think the psychological aspect of it is much more difficult if you are taking it very seriously (which I did). But, if youre gonna practice, I would recommend the sections I listed above. Also, run a lot of T*S=D problems in your head, you dont get paper, pencil and will run out of fingers and toes quickly...

Awesome. Tower, all good info. Thanks for the boost of confidence.

Stan, I haven't heard about it being anywhere other than somewhere in LA. I was thinking about picking up a room so I don't have to stress OC and LA traffic coming up from San Diego - the available time to decompress is worth the coin to me.

    Thanks, CF
