    Pay grades

How long do we spend at each training pay grade? How long does it take to get from D1 to D2 to D3...etc? In other words, how long before i get my first raise once I'm out of the academy and working? For refrence, I'm going to ZOA if it makes a difference in timeline.

Last I was told, 3-5 years for center. Something like 10-18 months before passing D1 depending on how soon you actually start training at the facility.

What about Tower or Up/Down's? All I ever see is for enroute, and haven't seen any time lines for us terminal folks...
Well, you had a plan. It sucked, but at least you're thinking...I think.

I'll take this one. I used to work at ZOA. I resigned about 6 months ago. I'll try to generalize the timeframe for your training and raises. It could vary A LOT depending on if u get domestic or oceanic at ZOA.

    Jul-Oct 06 Academy
    Oct-Nov 06 Stage II (@ZOA) drawing maps
Nov 06-Apr 07 A-side - strip runner, doing absolutely nothing (okay maybe studying and playing foosball)
Apr-Jul 07 Stage III - D side class. same as academy except ZOA specific
    Jul-Oct 07 Got 3 D-sides. first raise to D1
    Oct-Dec 07 Got my other 3 D-sides. second raise to D2
    Jan-Feb 08 Stage IV - R side class.
    Feb-May 08 Got 3 R-sides. third raise to D3.
    Jun 08 RESIGNED

my best guess would be that I would've gotten the last 3 r-sides and CPC by Dec 08. So a little over 2 1/2 years for CPC. based on those that were in training with me i would say that's between average to a little faster than average time. if u get Oceanic they only have 8 positions to CPC instead of 12 for domestic areas. so Oceanic in theory would check out even faster. this is a really rough estimate of what my timeline was. i don't remember exact dates but these are pretty close.

    Re: Pay grades-

aw man i forgot about ERAMS. ZOA should be getting ERAMS soon. that will delay your progress A LOT. all the CPCs and current developmentals will have to train on the ERAMS, and of course that will take priority over new developmentals training on D/R-sides. i have a friend at ZLC and he said there are significant delays to training because of ERAMS. the DYSIM gets used for the ERAM training instead of for the new guys. so you'll be delayed going to your Stage III/IV training. hopefully this doesn't effect ZOA too much. when they started time based metering at ZOA it didn't effect my training too much. maybe just a week of lost training.

Very much varied depending on the facility. You should probably try to contact the training department at your facility and ask or hope someone on here that's CPC at whatever specific facility can tell you.

Thank you. That helps. So now I know how long I'm gonna have to live with my mom when I make my way back to the over-priced bay area!
