I'm a Cincinnati resident. So obviously I would love to get CVG. But I think I'll take just about anything in KY or OH.

Re: Where do you want to go?

Live in OKC, would love to end up in OKC tower. The money isn't a huge factor for me; I think a level 8 suits me just fine. That being said I'll take what I'm given and like it.

Gambling on checking out at a level 12 facility seems like an unnecessary risk given the sacrifices you have to make when taking an offer, not to mention you don't really get paid until you get your card anyway. Better to go somewhere manageable and keep some small semblance of sanity.

Your amazing, you need to find another job and apply for it, your disgruntled and you have not even worked traffic before, wait till you get to your facility and you find out what it is to be a controller. they will not treat you like you are just a new employee off the street when you show up there, they are going to want to see someone enthusiastic, who does not retaliate to constructive criticism, and who does not think they know it all. You need to go work for hr where everyone is disgruntle and just talk smack all day long about other people.the reason the people at n90 are the way they are to new people coming in is because when you go through a training program that is tailored to a busy facility like that you grow a bond to other people and become a team and it makes you a little cocky when someone comes into your area that you work in everyday that knows nothing about air traffic in a busy facility and there is no reason for them to be there when they should be looking at a level 7 tracon that can teach them the basics. most of these guys worked their way up the chain to get there because before they started hiring you guys off the street it actually meant something to be a controller and you could not just walk into a busy facility, show some humility and quit talking so negatively. i worked with all those guys and they are a professional bunch of people who don't put up with any b.s. and will only grow to like you when you prove you belong in that building. they deserve to be cocky and you will understand it if you ever make it as a controller.

    holy run on sentence batman

dont take it out on the dev. The faa is the one sending people to 12s right away. New controllers dont have the choice to work our way to the higher level facilities.

Re: Where do you want to go?

I don't understand why before they were hiring off the street it 'meant something to be a controller'. Wasn't there a strike where most of todays controllers were hired to fill in the gaps of the people missing similar to the way they are hiring now because those people are now eligible to retire?

I'm not a controller yet either, so I can't answer this question... but to the controllers working now, do you really feel like it doesn't mean anything to be a controller just because the FAA is looking for OTS applicants?

FYI, I don't mean to start a sh*t storm, just wondering...

Also, if you read some of Ammos previous posts from other threads I wouldn't assume that she would ever go into a facility acting like a know it all.

I'm from texas, had vegas tracon and turned it down for Cleveland ARTCC...couldn't afford college so I did the ATC in the Air Force to get to the FAA.

Re: Where do you want to go?

Currently live in midwest. I am so fing tired of the snow, I think I would go to NC or SC. I am 30. No children and single. I am open to traveling and going to just about any facility except in CA.
    From TowerFlower:

OTS--Don't think that they are all just dumb high school grads. Some military and CTIs also applied under these openings; also many a pilot have applied---a group who know the rules. Many are college grads trying for something different. I have worked with some OTS and they were excellent controllers.
