    Air Traffic Control Specialist Trainee?????

Hello all! This is my first forum posting, so be gentle. I am touring a local tower on Monday and I planned on completing my application for the "Air Traffic Control Specialist Trainee" listing on the USA Jobs website, but now I am confused! Is this the right thing to apply for if I have zero experience in ATC but I do have the combination of college and progressive work experience?

I see everyone waiting for the ever elusive PUBNAT8 - is that different from the Trainee position I listed above? Please help me to clarify what I should be applying for, and thank you in advance for all of your help.

yes it is different. You must have an air traffic control degree to be considered for that announcement. You need to wait for the next pubnat.

Thank you! Will the announcement on USAJOBS literally say "PUBNAT 8?" I just want to make sure I apply for the right opening. Thanks again.

People have been waiting for pubnat 8 for several months and it may be several more before it comes out. I am not sure what exactly the title of the announcement will say (I am VRA and never looked at the pubnats). Visit this site frequently and I assure you that you will know when pubnat 8 hits (if ever).

Speculation and rumors are saying that Pubnat8 could be out actually in the next few days. I think the most recent date I've seen is July 6th or 7th. Just keep watching both USA Jobs and here. Once it hits there will be plenty of indication on this site. Good luck!

I'm looking for this annoucement myself. Is this the only way you can go to the CTI school in Colorado is if you pass this interview, or can you try and get in another way?

So the "Trainee" job annoucements are for controllers with experience? I retire shortly from the military. Should I be applying for these jobs?

everything is for a trainee...the title of the announcement and requirements state what you need..

    example

PUBNAT in the title is for anyone
    VRA is for veterans
CTO is for people with a CTO
REINS is for people who were already an faa controller
Commercial SEL, MEL, Instrument, CFI, CFII

Are your retiring or seperating. ATC or no.
