Irishatc thinks he's cool because we were in the same D and R school, yet he checked out a few weeks before me. Don't be fooled, he's gay with gay days off. He needs to be on Tues-Wed so we can go golfing together and he can beat my ass.

As far as hiring, when I met with the chief a few weeks ago to receive congrats for becoming CPC, he said we were only halfway into hiring. I'm not sure how accurate that is, but it's what he said. I'm not sure how they determine if OTS, or CTI, or military get hired. I was the first OTS in this whole new wave of hiring (March '08), and there are several who are awaiting radar school that are OTS. The rest are as the Irish dude said, from Riddle and military.

There was a post about this past March being the last public hiring panel. 300 people were selected for FY2011. This included OTS hires. There will be no more public announcements from now on so if you didn't make it the only way will be military, CTO or CTI.

Hello, I'm transfering to Jax next month. I have half of my d sides at ZTL but family issues have forced me to move home. Hilliard is not that bad I spent half of my life there. If you actually get out in the community (mostly church) then you get to know the folks there. Most of the folks there would give you the shirt off there backs. I will admit it is a tightnit community, but once you get to know people they will open up.

Hey Smartblone, not sure if you applied FL as first on you geo prefs, but I did when I lived less than a mile from Jax center and I still got ZTL. WELCOME TO THE GOVERNMENT. It will never make any sense.

Congrats on the transfer. It sucks that budget issue isn't letting terminal people transfer to en route. I'd be back in Jax in an instant.

Toured ZJX on friday afternoon and hopefully made some good contacts. REALLY hope I get selected there!!!

And Hilliard didn't seem as bad as those described it IMO. It was definately "out there" and rural compared to JAX, but it didn't seem too bad at all.

Haha, yeah FL was my 1st choice, but not anywhere in Jax...I want out of Jax. I wanted DAB, actually and I got ZME. Im happy, though. Glad I get the chance to live somewhere besides Florida. I did my internship at ZJX and enjoyed my time out there. Everyone is really nice and extremely helpful. Good luck!
