been through there, nice working environment about 2+ years to CPC I think or something like that. level 11 nice pay its in Hilliard that is northwest of JAX, kind of hill-billy town.

Hit me up if you want to know more (I only went through there once), I have contacts if you want them.

Later.

If Rick Miller is still the facility manager, he's a pretty good guy. I've been there about 4 times back when I was getting out of the military. The training program seemed pretty good. They have their busy sectors and their slow ones, so there's a good mix.

Like it's been said, Hilliard is in the middle of nowhere about 45min north of Jax. It's not a bad place to live if you like the country, but if not, it's a bit of a commute from Jax depending on what part of town you live in.

Awesome cool guys thanks! I was looking at it on google maps and it does seem a bit on the country side. Any of you guys live in Jacksonville or been there? What is it like? How is the city? Does it resemble Miami in any small minute way?

Thanks!

Not at all... It is still part of America. JAX is still a beautiful part of Florida and I wouldnt mind it, except being so far from family. Miami, no. It is a totally different world up there.... Good people and a good place for a family.

Before getting into CCBC, I moved to JAX in anticipation of Florida Community College of Jacksonville getting the CTI program. I stayed with my aunt and uncle for 6 weeks. Their next door neighbor was actually a retired ZJX lol. I know alot of controllers live in a nice part of JAX called Orange Park too...

It kind of sucked being there by myself and not knowing anyone, but the city and area I found pretty cool! I could deffinatly see myself living there, and actually, I think ZJX is gonna be my 2nd choice, next to ZOB.

Hey, I had an internship last summer in Jax, which by the way was pretty awesome. My Aunt and Uncle actually live in Hilliard so I stayed there. But anyways it is in the middle of nowhere. They have like a WinDixie, Weny's, couple churches, and a couple gas stations. Most of the controllers there live in Orange Park or Fernandina Beach it seemed. I knew one controller, a dad of one of my friends. He makes a commute of about 2 hrs each day. I liked the center a lot, most of the controllers and managers are awesome people. I chose it as my first choice and got it.

I lived in JAX for 5 years and its an awesome place to be. There is always something going on, concerts, Jaguars, minor league baseball, nightlife, etc. The only downside is that everything is so spread out. I have never been to Hilliard b/c its way out in BFE, but even JAX airport is about 25 min or so north of the city. Its practically in GA.

I grew up in Jax and OP. It's funny, I have NEVER looked at OP as a "nice place to live". FYI, OP is in Clay County, Jacksonville is Duval County. OP is just south of the Westside. OP has the country club, but other than that, it's just like every other place, some nice parts, some not so nice parts. Fernandina area is popular due to the beach, but N. Jax is blowing up with new developments, so that's probably where the newer homes and better schools are going to be.

Jax is not like any other major city. Downtown is slowly growing, but nowhere near the amount of stuff to do down there as other places. There are plenty of things to do around the city, but like it was posted, it's spread out. It takes about 45min to go from the beach to the Westside w/o traffic.

You might be able to find cheaper housing up in GA, but GA also has ad velorem tax(car tax) and state tax, both of which FL does not. BUT, FL also has higher home owners and car insurance.
