Atlanta Center - ZTL
Posted: 09-09-2008, 11:57 AM So I just finished my tour of ZTL today and it was quiet exciting. The people there are nice and the trainers are really nice. There are a lot of construction and upgrades being done and new systems being implemented there soon.
I got the tour from the contractor there and he told me everything that I will be going through at the training in ZTL, after I pass OKC of course. The pass rate there is ~99% from what I was told, in the past year, only 1 person out of 130 people washed out. But he also told me as long as you get past stage 2, you will most likely get transferred to a lower level facility. If anyone has any questions on ZTL feel free to ask me! |

Now I know the guy was blowing smoke to you cuz just because you get past stage 2 does not mean you'll get a lower level facility. My class had 8 pass stage 2 and make it to ZOA. Of the 8, 2 washed out in stage 3 classroom and DID NOT get a lower facility. 1 more passed stage 3 and washed on his D-sides, did NOT get a lower facility. Yet another passed stage 4 and washed on the R-sides and still did NOT get a lower level facility. This was a couple years back though so it might've changed. Anyway, sorry for sounding like a Scrooge. I just wanted you to know that even though this guy was saying all these exciting things, it may not be true. |

Re: Toured ZTL
Posted: 09-09-2008, 06:53 PM From what I have seen in ZAB, YOU have to go look for another position in the FAA, there are plenty to be had in all sorts of positions not just as controllers and I have seen people get them. It is good to know that there are other opportunities in the agency, just in case you don't make in the one you are sent to. The trick is do the best you can, try hard and be dependable. You end up with people behind you and you should get some kind of job. Pretty much common sense.
The 99% success in stage 2 sounds about right, pretty much the same at ZAB. |
