All I know is that ZID is going through a massive training overhaul with new systems....other than that what other important news is going on at this facility? What is the training and work schedule look like for the future? Any information on new equipment and/or procedures? Thank you for the input.

Indianapolis ARTCC (ZID)?

Hello, first post here; lurking for well over a year now. Anyway, I have received a tentative offer letter (TOL) for ZID En Route (ARTCC?) and have a few questions that nobody in OKC has been able to answer with any clarity (although to their credit they certainly have tried).

Long story short, I am changing careers mostly due to boredom and am making a significant financial sacrifice to change careers. I am alright with this. However, I am trying to plan my finances for the next couple years of my life (and my family) and am trying to find out what a CPC in the En Route center @ ZID makes? I have 3 different, official 2009 FAA spreadsheets and none of them match up. Not to mention my TOL contains yet a 4th set of numbers. It is very frustrating and confusing.

So, that said, can anyone help me with the following questions? I know over time these answers may become invalid, please just answer as though we're talking about today.
  1. Is ZID a level 12 facility?
  2. What "Pay Band" is a new fully qualified CPC at ZID En Route? Has this changed recently, or is it expected to?

These are my sources thus far:
Any guidance on these questions is much appreciated! I am highly interested in this position, but am reluctant to accept an offer in which I cannot get answers to questions that should be easy to answer. Even if you don't have the answer a name and phone number of someone who would know would be awesome.

Thanks for reading.

The ATSPP page is the correct one. It has a tab for IND. That's the payscale with locality included. ZID is a level 12. CPC at ZID starts at $90k. However, when you first get to ZID, you are making $38k...and with the backlog they are going to have in training...you will probably be making that for awhile. I've been there since December and they haven't started anyone's actual training other than maps that got there after me (including me)
HOWEVER.....

I wouldn't worry about any of that. They are coming out with a new payscale on Thursday that will take effect later this year/beginning of next year.

Pants- According to everyone I talk to, the new trainees just sit upstairs everyday like I did before i left. You get stuff to study (LOA's, maps, frequencies, etc)...but you have months and months to study right now with no end in sight....so you just find way to kill time without getting in trouble and learn a little bit each day.

And hell ya i'm ready for the Colts to start playing! I got tix to the Colts/Pats game this year. Hellz yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the information. Wow, I had no idea about the training situation. Sounds depressing. No end in sight? Is there more info on that around here?

Not from anyone besides me lol. It's because of the ERAM system upgrade...which keeps getting delayed...which means we keep getting delayed. It sucks, but I'm in the career field and getting paid. Not a lot at the moment, but eventually it will be over with and this will be a distant memory.

Kind of like this deployment...it sucks but it did a lot of good financially and once it's over with i'll be glad I did it....it just sucks balls right now

Is Indy full? Or do you think they'd be hiring quickly?

"Quickly" is a highly subjective term. I applied for a "PUBNAT6" posting that closed in July 2008 and have turned every stage around as fast as I can and I am just to the point of my background check and psych eval right now. I'm on for headed to OKC, then back to Indy sometime in FY2010. But I'm new. Not sure if you're already in ATC? There have been other people get through this in about 1/2 the time I have and I think that had something to do with how badly they were needed at their location.
