Does anyone know anything about the Memphis area, i.e. a decent place to rent a house, or the Tracon itself?

I've got a friend that works there. Management there is awful. They say the manager himself is an a$$hole. The controllers are good group of people. Memphis itself is a hell hole. I hated it when I was living in Millington 15 years ago. My friend said the most of the controllers live in Mississippi. Very busy traffic with Northwest and Fedex having hubs there.

hahaha, I don't know why, but I think that is hilarious. I bet this guy wished he never asked the question. I would agree that the city of Memphis sucks. It's congested, old and dirty. Don't know about the traffic though...

better to know what I am getting myself into than going in blind LOL. I can already tell I will definitely live a little outside of memphis and just work there. Ignorance is bliss i guess, but it can't be much worse than enid, ok. Join the air force see the world my ass. I got stuck there for 3.5 years.

South on I-69 just a few minutes from the airport will put in some nice places in Mississippi. When I went to the PEPC in Memphis I stayed in Robinsonville for a couple of days to gamble.

I heard Memphis Tracon is very difficult to get CPC. I have a friend at the Center though he said it is dirty as hell in Memphis but there are some nice women.

Memphis is not all that bad. If I were you, I would check out Olive Branch, MS. to live in, or rent a place in East Memphis, Collierville, or Germantown. I live in East Memphis, and it is alright. I am not a controller, but have a few friends that work in Memphis center, and I am currently in the process of trying to get hired.

A lot of applicants from earlier PUBNATs have received PEPC invites for the Memphis Center, regardless of what they've put on their preferences.

Draw your own conclusions; it could just be coincidental that I've happened to hear from their group more than others.
