Cleveland Tower - CLE
Posted: 05-06-2009, 06:13 PM Hey everyone I'm new to the site and still have a long way to go in the ATC process. I'm just now finishing up my sophomore year at Ohio State and was just looking towards the future at locations i may want to work at. Since I am from around Cleveland, Hopkins has always been of great interest to me. So i was just wondering if anyone had any info on it for me. Anything you can tell me about it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Cle atct
Posted: 05-06-2009, 06:21 PM I can't tell you anything about it personally, like as far as "working there", but I toured there once when I flew out of there. It was a VERY cool experience to me! The TRACON room was pretty big, and so was the tower. I've since toured CAK (C) and MFD (D) and both of those towers reflect their classes, they weren't as big as CLE, but still cool none the less.
But, I wouldn't mind taking CLE if they gave it to me! |

Re: Cle atct
Posted: 05-09-2009, 08:57 PM I live near cleveland and the word is they are only picking up people from akron canton or toledo. they aren't accepting new hires, especially if you didn't come from a CTI school. Since akron and toledo will be combining with Cleveland in the next few years (3-4yrs.) the best bet is to go to one of those and then in a couple of years you'll be at Cleveland. Hope this helps!

Re: Cleveland Tower - CLE
Posted: 05-10-2009, 01:49 AM Might not be a bad idea to try and start at the smaller towers anyway, just to get some experience, instead of jumping right into CLE head 1st! haha
CAK would be a SWEET deal! There's plenty of nice area's around the airport to live it, NO road traffic to deal with (I-480=SUX!!) and they don't have too too much air traffic at that airport. The pay isn't that much, but niether is the work load! I grew up about 10 mins away from ZOB, but for the past 3 years, I've been down here in Akron, a few exits down from CAK. I'd take CAK if they offered it to me! |

Re: Cleveland Tower - CLE
Posted: 05-10-2009, 07:51 PM Thanks for the info guys! I actually grew up in a small town only about 25 min from CAK so I'm very familiar with the airport. I still have at least a year until i will be able to apply for OTS or a CTI school. Just trying to look ahead.

Re: Cleveland Tower - CLE
Posted: 05-10-2009, 08:34 PM I grew up in Orrville, OH and I'm currently at Ohio State getting a degree in Aviation Management and my pilots license. I wouldn't mind getting hired through OTS but if thats not an option then I'm planning on going to CCBC after i finish my degree here. I should be done by next spring at OSU

Re: Cleveland Tower - CLE
Posted: 05-10-2009, 10:18 PM That's cool! My girlfriend's dad works in Orrville, and I flew over the town alot while I was getting my pilot's license. I got it at a small, private airport called Skypark. They used to send their students down to OSU for their long cross country solo's, but someone pissed someone else off, and ruined it for everyone...lol
I'm at CCBC now, should be finishing up enroute in August. If you have any questions, let me know! |

Re: Cleveland Tower - CLE
Posted: 05-11-2009, 04:09 PM Skypark is up in Wadsworth correct? I thought about going there to get my license but decided to get some college credit out of it instead. Plus its nice to fly out of a semi busy airport and get some experience dealing with some other traffic. Where do you want to get placed after CCBC?
