MKE is a level 9 up/down. The tower has 5 runways with a complex layout and lots of crossings. The runways combined with adjacent airspace on Radar combine for a very complex airspace structure, and takes some getting used to. MKE took the Oshkosh airpace from Chicago Center which provides for an interesting few weeks every July. As far as I know, we are one of the few facilities which work Tower, Approach and Center airspace. I work there and am very happy with the facility and people. It is complex, but not crazy busy. We have our pushes, but we also have our low times. Our TRACON is getting back to its busy days and is nearing 1000 ops a day. We have somewhere near 35 FPLS and over 20 developmentals... lots of training. I believe our ideal staffing is at 57 FPL's for near it. Could be more now because of OSH airspace. Hope this helps!

Hey guys. This is my first post here. Right now I am a CTI student at UND and expect to graduate in the spring of 2012. I was born and raise about 2 miles away from MKE so I am hoping when I am done I can go there. Over the summer I called to get a tour of the facility and they (the office) said they only give tours to people who know that they will be controlling there. Are there any controllers here who work at MKE? If so could you give me some information about the facility. Also, is there anyway anyone could get me on a tour of the facility? Thanks.

Not sure if anyone will check up on this post since an old one but I recently just got selected for the interview for WI, I have not had my interview yet so I do not know where I'm going. I am hoping for MKE so hopefully I'll be seeing some of you by early next year. If you happen to know something F16 as in any new names that may be coming there please message me as it would be great to know.

The managers nickname was Wicked Wanda, and was singlely responsible for eliminating much of the enjoyment of working the EAA airshow at OSH.
