CRP is a level 9 up/down. 24 hour facility. What else would you like to know?

Thats about all I already knew about it considering I'm who created those pages on here! I was hoping someone would magically pop up and say yep I work there, its awesome. Training is a breeze, managers are cool, hot chicks everywhere..you know that kinda stuff!

Some info on the area would be great. Maybe the places to check out, places to stay away from, points in interest. If you gonna link me to the city of Corpus Christi website I've already been there! Thanks

I'm headed to CRP Nov. 1. I don't have any more info about CRP, but I assume you are headed there as well?

Not to rain on your parade but Corpus is the arm pit of TX. The weather is generally really hot and humid. The wind is always blowing 20/30 mph and the only good looking girls are 18 yrs. old and students at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, and there's not even too many of them. I worked in Corpus for a few months and was extremely excited to leave.

As far as living, there are a few nice areas, and a lot of ghetto areas. The majority of their billboards are in Spanish and if you are Caucasian, you will definitely be the minority.

On a side note, if you like fishing, you'll have a ton of options.

Edit: As far as places to live, look at Portland. You'll have to cross the bridge but traffic is never really too bad and it's a very nice area.

Thanks for the info. This is exactly the kind of stuff I was looking for. I mean, the truth isn't always as pleasant as you hope. The hot and humid thing doesn't really bother me, I actually hate cold weather. I learned to kite surf while I was in Daytona so the wind is a plus. I'm from Phoenix so I'm pretty used to the whole bilingual thing. But I'm a little bummed about the female situation you described though...18's legal in Texas right? (totally kidding, wait no I'm not).

Thanks for the info on Portland. How is the area right around the airport?

Yeah, I requested to be redirected from my original facility. After a ton of emailing and phone calls back and forth with HR I was offered CRP. I couldn't be any more excited about starting this career in an up/down facility. I think it allows me to figure out what I like better and should give me the experience to transfer pretty much anywhere I want later in my career.

So are you at the academy right now? Are you from the area or did you just land in Corpus Christi by luck of the draw?

Edit: Had I paid more attention I could've answered my own questions! Anyways, we'll have to keep in touch. You can let me know what you think when you get there. I actually bought a plane ticket today to fly out there and check things out. Did you visit the facility? I'm thinking of setting up a tour while I'm there...

Actually, 17 is the age of consent in Texas!

The area around the airport is a little rough, as I recall. There's some nice areas to the east of 358 but generally speaking, you'll want to stay away from HWY 37. It's all refineries and very ghetto areas. Well not all, but mostly. Also, I was just thinking about it. Calallan is a very nice area and is only about 10/15 minutes away from the airport. It'll be more of a hike to the beach and other Corpus offerings but probably has the best schools (if you plan on a family) and least amount of ghetto.
